My camera has started chewing up mini dvs at random. As in when i eject the dv, the tape foil is out of the dv and all twisted. I have tried winding the tape coil back in but the dv won't play again. Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix of is it a technical thing that needs repairing?

Perrhaps the pinch roller is chewing up the tape and is guiding it down.Look for possible dirt on the drum. the tracks or the roller. Also check for free movement of the idle rollers and action of the take up spool. Make sure that the tape is of good quality.
These type of problems usually result from damage to the tape transport mechanism, Unfortunately they are impossible to fully diagnose without a physical examination of the mechanism.
There is not a magic tweak for this i'm afraid.
