Question about Sony KV-32S26 32" TV

1 Answer

Sony KV-32S26 32"

Our 6 year old Sony TV recently started randomly turning its setup menu on and off and cycling through random options. The remote doesnt seem to be working at all (cant change channels, volume, etc..) and I am unable to change any settings on the TV itself. The on/off switch and the volume button is working but I have little success navigating the setup menu. I have tried "resetting" it as Sony has suggested, no help. Problem is random, will go for weeks without issues (we do have to hit the volume minus buttom when turning on the TV to get rid of the setup menu, takes care of the problem) but when the problem flares up nothing seems to help. Also we didnt notice this proble till a few weeks after our 2 year old launched his matchbox jet into the TV (near the button controls) Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

One of the front control switches, that are located in the back of the buttons on the front of the set most likly are damaged or broken. These switchs are small and your going to need to pull out the entire chassis of the TV set to replair or replace them. If you have solid state TV repair experience thenm it should not be a big deal, but if you DONT please seek out a local tech to assist you with this repair as sliding out a TV printed circuit board can be a tricky thing, as it can bend ,crack or pop the surface mounted componets right off the board. A repair like this shouldnt cost alot. really all depends on if the board is damaged or not. good Luck

My Sony trinitron tube Tv 36" seems to be going (its 10 years old

no ....the tube will end up after 20 yrs in 10 yr old sony...
it is worth if u fix it. randomly going black means...horizontal driver trans former is the problem..or any loose contact with the 110 volt supply to that transformer,,or any loose contact with line o/p transformer.. (horizontal driver transformer may be gone
then tv behaves like this) if any other parts gone tv wont come back.... there may be a loose contact call a service pro..

Sony Wega KV-27FS100 RANDOMLY Turns itself ON

You said around 4pm TV is switched on everyday. Check in menu options any on-timer and off-timer is changed. If it is not there is a problem in microprocessor section. EEPROM ic malfunction also shows these type of symptoms. But it can be done by Technical persons only. This is not a major problem. This is due to surge current and lightening like that.
