Question about Canon PowerShot A310 Digital Camera
I am able to view pictures/video (taken already) from the memory card,But when I try to take new photos/video (after putting the camera in video/photo mode) I am seeing blank screen,i.e My camera is not able to sense the objects. Can you please help me in this regard. I have tried with different battery/memory card ,same problem. Thanks Sailendra
Know this is an old post, but for the three others who posted recently:
This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Normally there are two reasons for the given problem. 1). Bad or defective CCD. and/or 2). shutter not working. in the first case the only solution is the replacement of the CCD. and in the later case sticking of shutter blade, non functioning of shutter blade will cause the problem. This can be rectified by sending it to some repairer.

After turning camera on, the screen has a gray background, with viewing area in the center of the screen, a horizontal line like this above the area 1------>2 with the viewing area below the horizontal line split in half with the left half dark and the right half white. There are also a few icons along the top border of the screen. It will take a picture when I press the button and flash, but the result is a blank screen. If I push menu, I get the record, setup or my camera. ????
camera worked yesterday. it powers on but will not take a picture. it flashes but no picture was taken .. i can view other picture on the card
I am unable to take a photo. The camera is on and I can view photos already taken, but the camera does not show an object to be photographed. I have checked and changed the batteries and even set the camera to the default settings. The camera worked fine the last time I used it.
When I go to take a picture it takes a while for the shutter to work and the flash doesn't work and the pictures come out real blurry.
Yes, i have the same problem. I can review the pictures, but when i want to take new pictures, i take "all black" picture
i have the same proplem as "guest" acording to canon this and other models are in for a recall and you can get a free repair regardless of warranty status
same problem cant take pics just get black screen but can view taken shots
