Powers on then right back of light flashes 8 times

Have a sony model # kp51ws500 2002 I turn the power on and it comes on for about 5 seconds and then go back off the stanby light flashes 8 times. any info as to what is wrong and is it something I could fix or something a repair shop would need to do i also have the kp51ws500 bought in 2003 and it has the same problem, turns on for about 30 seconds with pic is coming on but pinky bluish blurr and it turns off and flashing light blinks 8 times. any one can help it, greatly appreciated. thanks.

Looks like a problem on the convergence board which requires repairing/replacing..

Replacing the convergence IC's may resolve this issue. However, you will need the services of a technician if you have no prior experience.

There will be two convergence IC's placed on large heat sinks. I would recommend replacing both at the same time.

Problem for Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655. Hello,

5 times Red LED blinks means Lamp Driver Error. (KDF-55WF655)
2 possible reasons, either Lamp is gone or Ballast Supply got bad.
Replace lamp first, in most cases it solved the problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently?

SONY GRAND WEGA KF-50WE610 can't turn on TV screen.

Ths 5 blinks usually indicate an AKB problem. There is a break in the video path. I'll look up your specific model and post the results here. Please update this if you wish to attempt the repair yourself.

Sony KF-50WE620 - 5 Flashes

5 flashes indicates ballast malfunction. 4 flashes indicates fan not working. I would replace the big fan in the back because it is a common failure for this model. But befor this check to see if the lamp door is warped from overheating. If it is the wiring on the balast good be burnt and the light engine could be damaged.
