Most e machines had a partion on the hdd by hitting f 10 after pressing the power button you should be able to get to that partion unless someone has removed it .

if they have removed it you will need an oem operating system you can get copies from a local repair shop usually for avg $30.00 to $40.00. pick up drivers from emachines for free before format 7 reload though at leat the e net & video. or get original disks from e machines around $100.00

Want destructive restore help for lenovo Z570,have win 7 ultimate(oem) installed and dont have any restore point or disks

Welcome to Fixya

You can actually restore the computer back to the factory state by pressing the One key button. this button is located right beside or on top of the power button. the computer should be turned off mode then push the button to trigger the restore partition of the computer. This will happen if you did not repartition the harddrive. If you repartition the harddrive then the restore partition will be deleted.

Thank you for using Fixya!

I have many problems with my computer and i think it has multiple viruses. What do you suggest that i do?

Use the Restoration Disk/s, (System Restore Disk/s, Restore Disk/s = Same/same), and perform a Full Installation. (Destructive Installation) Wipe the Harddrive until it is back to day 1 when the computer was made.

Have a Compaq desktop in separate office. Even when I reboot, I have a black screen with a blinking cursor in top left corner. Help!

Suggest you use the Restoration Disk. (CD)
Turn on the computer, put the Restoration Disk in your optical drive's tray.

When asked click on Non-Destructive Restore. (Repair)

If you click on Destructive Restore, (Full Installation), you will wipe out all personal documents you have saved.

For example:
Files in My Pictures, My Videos, My Music, personal documents you have created, and documents you have downloaded.

Non-Destructive Restore, or Repair, will repair the basic Windows files.

If you do not have the Restoration Disk for YOUR computer, you can order it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)

(Your is capitalized, because it has to be the Restoration Disk for a Compaq Presario SR1620NX, and for THAT computer.
Otherwise use a fresh genuine copy of Windows)

In the USA there is no charge for the Restoration Disk.
The shipping and handling is Not free, however.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

This is the toll-free number to call in the USA, (24 hours a day, 7 days a week),
1-800-474-6836

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html

I am not familiar with support overseas, however here is the HP Support page for Worldwide,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

Write down the Product Number, and Serial Number from your computer, to give to the nice person on the phone.
You'll find it in the white Service Tag.

The Service Tag will be located on the back of your computer tower, or up on the side.

More info regarding this,

(Left-click on the + sign next to each heading, to expand it.
Example: Look on the product identification labels)

I have a Compaq Presario SR1610NX Desktop PC and I am having problems restoring it back to original factory settings. Can I please get some help on how to get it back to factory settings.

Back to factory settings requires the Restoration Disk. (CD disk)

Turn the computer on, install the Restoration Disk in your optical drive, (Either one), and wait for the disk to boot up.

Once you come to the question of, "What do you wish to do; Non-Destructive Restoration, or Destructive Restoration, choose Destructive Restoration.

(Non-Destructive Restoration is Repair.
Destructive Restoration is a Full Installation )

After you click on your choice follow the instructions.
Takes an average of 35 to 45 minutes.

Don't have the Restoration Disk?
You can obtain it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)
The disk/s are free. The shipping and handling is not.

$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

In the USA the phone number to call them is toll free.
(Big deal if you have unlimited service, or a cell phone, huh?
I just included this info anyway)

1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
(I called this number to verify it's a working number, and the procedure is still the same, about 2 months ago. It's a working number. No charges are involved)

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html

For HP Support phone numbers not in the USA,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

You will need your Serial Number, (S/N), to give to the nice representative on the phone.
This is either on the back of your computer tower, or up on the side of the tower.
It's in the white Service Tag.

If you have questions please post in a Comment.
Would appreciate hearing how this came out.

Need a destructive restore...?

If you are going to restore with the disks, all the OS updates and programs you have installed will be discarded and you will end up with a disk full of junk.
Also, I had one of those dells a few months ago. If you just want to do a clean install, backup your data and re-install the OS (windows, I guess), but before you do that, go to Dell's site, and download the drivers for your OS. I believe there isn't anything absolutely necessary you can not get there.
