SOURCE: skip stitch

The three most obvious causes (other than that of the machine possibly being slightly out of time) are:

1) Too small of a needle size - increase the size.

2) A needle that has a flaw / defect - change the needle.

3) Needle not inserted correctly, either not pushed all the way up into the needle bar, or not installed facing the correct place. On this machine, the small "scarf" in the needle (an indent just above the eye) shouldface the right side of the machine.

Can I use a twin needle on a Pfaff 2056

Since your machine can do decorative stitches, I would think it can take a twin needle. Just BE SURE you have installed the needle plate with the wide hole for the needle and do NOT set a wider stitch than the twin needle can accommodate on it's widest setting without checking by turning the handwheel--the twin needle will overreach and either hit the presser foot or needle plate and sent needle shards flying!!! The manual should have instructions.

It's a older PFAFF. I believe a zig-zag. Not a home but more an Industrial size. The only #'s I have right now r on the front lower right. 138-6/21-BS. Any and all Info would be greatly appreciated.

Pfaff has many of there manuals here: http://www.pfaff.com/en-US/Support-and-Updates/Support . I found a manual for the 138 using the search option after clicking on the down arrow in the Machine Name box. The direct link to the manual is http://www.pfaff.com/SiteMedia/PFAFF/Products/Machines/Support-manuals/Pfaff_138-139-manual-ES-DE-FR-ES.PDF . However, the only place I see any reference to 6/21 is in the section on needles. (Some 138 models used a specific needle system.) I don't see any letter codes after the 6/21 in the manual.

I hope this helps.

How to adjust placment of twin needle so it doesnt hit edge of bobbin holder?

The needle should not hit the bobbin holder at all. Do you have the needle inserted all the way? If it is too low, it will hit. If you are saying the needle is hitting the sides of the needle plate where the needle goes through, then the needle is too wide for the plate. Either use a narrower twin needle or see is a needle plate with a wider needle hole came with your machine. Some decorative stitches can't be used with a twin needle because the combination of width of stitches and width of needle is too wide. In that case, narrow the stitch width until the needle doesn't hit the needle plate or use a narrower twin needle. I hope I have helped and answered some of your questions. Good luck.

How do I change needles on the pfaff 145 machine and re-insert them?

Here's a manual for your machine. There is also a needle/thread combo chart you should find helpful. Allow time for it to load... takes a bit.

How do you adjust timing on pfaff 138 sewing machine

Take the foot off the machine
Remove the needle plate
Remove the feed dogs
rotate by hand until the needle is at the lowest position
continue rotating until the needle rises 2 mm
the hook assembly should be passing exactly by the scarf of the needle
if not loosen the two screws that secure the the hook assembly and rotate the hook assembly by hand until it is exactly at the scarf of the needle and the distance between the hook and the scarf is .1 mm (almost touching the needle)
tightened the two screws, replace the feed dogs and foot and it should sew perfectly

Hi. I have a Pfaff Industrial Sewing machine Model nr: 38-6 and the manual got lost in the 2nd world war. I think my dad bought it in 1930. Can I still get a manual for it?

Ahh, this comes about a year after your posting. The Pfaff 38-6 is a true gem. If you have any interest in sewing, don't let it go! I have an embarassingly large number of sewing machines and kept searching for the perfect one to do medium duty sewing. I found a 38-6 on Craigslist for $40 with treadle table and grabbed it. Best thing I've ever done re sewing. It is a commercial tailor's machine made before WW2 and sews the best of any of my domestic machines. It is my 'go to' machine for all but heavy sewing when I go to my industrial machines.

As to your question about a manual, I have a German language one that is only helpful for the photos and tables. I will make a pdf for you if that would help. It uses the standard domestic 130 needles which are also the Singer 15x1 needles. Please let me know what I can do to help you preserve and use this great machine...Dave

Twin needle

Any universal twin needle should work, there is no attachment. Just don't set your stitch width too big if you are in zig-zag!
I hope this helps and good luck.
