If you have been using this camera for a long time, most likely the function switch ( the one you turn to change from photo to video mode) contacts are worn out. you have to take this one to a repair shop to change the function switch.

I am trying to playback videos on my JVC Everio Camcorder using the colored AV cords. I hear the audio coming through my TV but there is no video/picture. I have tried adjusting the settings and tried...

First, set [SWITCH TO ANALOG I/O] to [OUTPUT]
then turn off the (camcorder) unit.

After you connect the cable (from AV connector to the TV's AV Input Connector (accepting the 3 color cables), set the TV to VIDEO mode, selecting the AV input (from your Camcorder).
Then start your playback on the camcorder ...
slide the mode switch to select the (video) mode (instead of the picture/photo mode)... press the PLAY/REC to select the playback mode, and select the desired files/frames to play.

Hope this works for you. Have you tried using the HDMI mini connector instead ? (same process, just set your TV to accept input from the HDMI input)

How do i get phone to change from video mode to photo mode?

Nigel,

After you start the camera, please go into Options and select the Icon for a still camera. The phone will switch over to the still camera mode. Again, to switch back to the video mode, select the icon of a video camera.

All the best.

I have a 4 year old Canon SD 600 and these days it defaults to video mode even in photo mode. I have tried everything, taking out the battery for a long time and putting it back, but always stays on video...

If you have tried to move the switch on the back between the stillphoto, view and video setting, and it does not change modes, the cameras life is as you put it, over.

Remote control not responding batteries good

You can simple test your remote control if you have a digital camera. Usually the camera has photo (picture) mode and video (movie) mode. Switch it it to video mode and see on the screen if your remote control flashing when you press buttons.

HDR-HC1 power keeps cycling

I had this exact problem, and the cycling would stop after about 30 sec. and then function properly. I believe a circuit was confused, mainly because I used an older battery and let it run out till the batt was dead - accidently - and when I put in a fresh batt, it no longer cycled and works perfectly to this day.

Now if I can get my computer to recognize the camera via firewire, I'd be golden.
