Stuck on "Hello"

I have an Ilo DVDR05/VU model not quite a year old. When plugged in it displays numbers as it is supposed to. However, once it is turned on, either with the remote or at the unit itself, it says Hello but never moves on. From that point on, I can do nothing with the remote. I cannot eject, play, nothing. It should come to the ilo screen saver but it just keeps saying "hello". I cannot turn the power off with the remote or at the unit. I have noticed a slight high-pitched whistle coming from the unit over the past couple of days and don't know if this is relevant. I am leaving it unplugged for a bit to see if that does any good at all. Any ideas?

This product is known for freezing up. You can get it fixed but it will cost more than you paid for the machine. Best advice, throw it away and buy a name brand recorder. The company will stand behind their products instead of dodging their responsibility of making a decent machine and ripping everyone off. I learned the hard way too, and yes, it hurts the pride.

SOURCE: ilo dvdr05 dvd burner

Do the discs play okay in other dvd players? If not, perhaps the unit is getting hot during recording? Mine has to have ample space around it in order to not mess up.

ILO DVD Recorder/Player DVDR05

I'd take it back before you can't and get your money back. I bought two ILO's !one was a DVDR04 and the other was a DVDR05 and they didn't last even 6 mo. and all ILO has to say is pay us and it will work again but for how long, Until they want more money. Ithink they rig them to fail in the programing so they can charge for more programing.

No video on screen

Try unplugging unit, wait then plug in and try. That may reset it. If using S video maybe you should try using the reg video input and see if that helps

ILO DVDR05 recorded DVD's freeze

Burn your DVDs at tow positions slower than what the system and discs say. It sounds as if there is a huge amount of error being introduced during the write process. Unfortunately, the old discs can only be recovered with an external program like Zero Assumption Recovery or the like....accordianman
