Question about Singer CE-200 Quantum Futura Computerized Sewing Machine
Just a note for people with Windows XP using the software for Singer Quantum Futura CE 200. I could not open the program, called a computer repair person, spent lots of money, restored my computer and it still would not work. I just happened to call the store where I bought the machine and "Oh, other people have been also calling about this". Well it turns out that the only problems was that Windows XP's new automatic updates do not support the software for opening the futura program. I had to just TURN OFF the automatic updates and it worked like a charm. $500 later and losts of frustration. I hope I might prevent others from going through this. Jonebone

After much frustration with this problem, I finally went and bought a used, refurbished laptop with xp on it. Warrant lasts one year and I am ever so happy to get going again! Now, both of my machines are up and running at the same time, and I can now get my orders out on time!. I decided that when this happened, I could not afford to lose this kind of time again, so, I DO NOT CONNECT EITHER LAPTOP TO THE INTERNET, for my machines, so no possible problems ever again. I also get to use my main computer for internet only.

When i try to open C: or D: in my acer aspire 5570 (I am using Window XP), it asks me from which program? Also, my Internet Exporer prompts an error "The procedure entry point InternetGetSecurityInfoBy URLW could not be located in the dynamic link library WININET.dll.
What could be the reason for this and what is the solution?

I do not have a solution, but the same problem. Also, Hyperfont causes the same shut done. Don't we need the sp2 for the other applications on our pcs?
I will be contacting Singer and making a complaint!

Sorry no solution but I am in the same boat as eabates. I can't load autopunch and open the Futura software. I did turn off the auto updates but if I'm reading this right I have to remove the updates as well, right? I have to turn off startup type, right? I am so new at this that I need someone to bring out the crayons. Paige

This is not a solution but I have the same problem as eabates. As soon as I intall the Futura AutoPunch software I can't open the Futura embroidery software anymore. Like eabates I have turned off the auto updates; I have disabled it at STARTUP TYPE. It all worked fine until this week. Thank goodness I found this site and got the primary software working but I WANT AutoPunch too. Anyone have any additional potential solutions??? Thanks so much for just getting part of the software working again.

I know what your talking about I have help others the same thing and turning off the updates is not all you should do cause it well come back ON in time you have to disable it from the Administrative Tools menu - click on Services, at the Automatic updates right click, click on properties at middle of page you well see "STARTUP TYPE" change it to Disabled. That well take care of it for good until you change it back to Automatic which you well need to do if you want an system update then you can go back to Disabled.

SOURCE: Software not opening with Singer Futura on Windows XP
Bit out of my league can I suggest you talk to a computer expert.
My limited knowledge tells me while trying to update, your previous software package has been corrupted.
