If you are having problems playing a blu-ray disc is your blu-ray player, try the following.
1) Check the firmware-make sure you have the latest version. If your BD player uses the Xross media bar, following these steps:
Press the Home button.
Select setup
Select System Settings
Press the Enter button on the remote.
Scroll down and select System Information and press enter.
The Firmware version will appear on the screen. Write this number down and go to esupport.sony.com to see if you have the latest version. Just follow the instruction to perform the update. Check out this video.....it will walk you thru the steps I just described. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lI2IaK3XkA
2) If your BD player doesn't have internet connection, you can check the firmware version by:
Press the System Menu button.
Highlight Setup and press the ENTER button.
Highlight Video Setup press the ENTER button
Highlight TV Type and press the ENTER button
On the remote, press the Blue button
The current firmware version of the player will display. Write this number down and go to esupport.sony.com to see if you have the latest version. Just follow the instruction to perform the update. 3) Some BD players requre that a USB memory device is inserted in the EXT slot of the player prior to playing the movie. It's recommended to use at least 1GB. If you already are using one and run into a disc not playing, try removing the USB device and plugging it back in.
Here's a few more things you can try.
1. Reset the BD Player:
Remove the disc from the BD player.
Turn off the BD player.
Unplug the power cord of the BD player from the electrical outlet.
Let the player remain without power for one minute.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
Turn on the BD player.
Insert the disc into the BD player
2. Make sure that the Parental Control settings are not set to "On".
3. If the BD player supports the BD-Live feature, set the BD Internet Connection setting to "Do Not Allow" and delete any conflicting BD-Live date from the BD/DVD Viewing Settings menu.
This isn't the place to search for hacking blu ray player region codes. But the easy solution is to use a BD drive in a computer, you're allowed a limited number of region codes resets.
Follow
the steps below to reset your player. Resetting the player reverts all
settings back to factory default meaning the network settings must be reconfigured
after the reset is performed.
Turn
on your player and remove any discs wait until the front display reads No Disc
Hold
down the FF button on your BD player not your remote until the front display
reads Reset about 8 sec and the player turns off.
Press
the power button to turn your player on. The Menu language selection screen
appears, using the number buttons on your Blu ray remote select your language
The
e-contents menu is displayed. Your player has been successfully reset. You
will now have to reconfigure your network settings before you can launch any
streaming services such as Netflix Pandora Blockbuster etc. If you need step by instructions click
here
to go to the Network Setup And Usage troubleshooting guide.
Do a reset of the remote and the player:
To reset remote remove batteries and hold power button for 30 seconds. To reset player Power it on and hold the fast forward button down for 10 seconds.
Try to make use of the yellow video cable, the cable that is part of the RCA cable and try to set the TV to AV1 as soon as the video cable is connected from your BD player to your TV. Turn on your Bd player and you can now set the TV to its correct resolution. Best thing also to reset oyur bd player back to its factory settings.
