Tape ejected The VCR ejects some tapes but not others. It doesn't seem to like Fuji Film (EP Mode) tapes. Any suggestions on how to get it to play? Thanks.

Check the rubber band on the motor that is used to inserts the tapes. it might be lose or getting old. it does not matter what brand it is, the vcr is programed to take all of them unless there is something worng with the tape. any way, check the rubber band. good luck

Video on my Sony VCR (SLV-780HF) goes gray after playing a tape a few seconds. What could be the problem?

The only real cure will be to clean the video head. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid that whatever recorded you EP mode tape was not set up well tracking wise. So other machines struggle to track the tape. Some VCR's will only playback SP or LP tapes and don't have EP mode. In which case you should check to see if these VCR's can play the EP tape and if they can't find one that can.

My VHS tape will not eject from the VCR. I have a message flashing stating ERR. What can I do to eject the tape?

Hello
The mechanism of your VCR has jammed with video casette tape. If tape ribbon has got twisted around the drum motor head, or the belt that connected to eject [capstan] motor has elongated, this type of fault will occur. Either it will play, rewind, fast forward of eject. Just replace the belts first. In most VCRs the user can replace the belt from underside. Let the tape is there, if it is in, replace all the belts. Belts can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. It will come as kit type, each model has its own belt kit, and you have to give them the exact model number of your VCR. Just open the cover of the VCR, and look for tape ribbon twist if any. If it is there, remove it carefully without making damage to any other internal parts, especially to video head. If necessary, cut the tape film. If tape twist is only the problem, it will be rectifed as this twist has been removed. If this also doesn't help you, replace all the belts. OK.

Vcr will not play tapes,it ejects the tape after a few seconds

This may be caused by the mode switch.
By the way it uses a K-Deck Mechanism.

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.

Yes. SP is "Standard Play" and LP is "Long Play", while EP/SLP are short for Extended Play/Super Long Play respectively.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.

Tapes not playing

Hey do the tapes play at all? sometimes some tapes recorded
on other machines won't play on others. maybe you need to adjust the tracking on the VCR you are playing it on. If the tape
was recorded on a VCR that is misaligned it might not play back
on another VCR. Also the tape may have been recorded on a
super VHS VCR in et (extended definition) mode if so they won't play on just any VCR. If the picture looks scrambled like a
premium channel on analog cable then it's probably recorded in et.
and if its recorded on super VHS tape it may eject out of your VCR.
They don't make these S-VHS vcrs anymore but people still
have them around. There is also Digital VHS they're not
compatible with VHS either. A VHS recorded in et mode will
play on some more expensive vcrs it should say so on the box
or instructions.
