Roadmate 300 GPS

I had the same problem and solved it by plugging the USB cable into the device, powered it up, went into the "Magellan Roadmate Manager", clicked on "Settings" and then clicked on "Voice Options" and my sound came back.

Won't say that it will work for you, but it did for me. Worth a try!

Magellan roadmate 300 wont turn on!

I think the problem is with the internal power jack which tends to break. the part is MG361213 and is available at laptopjacks.com. You have to take the Unit apart and remove the old jack and resolder the new one which is a three pin unit.

Good Luck

I think you are going to struggle here.
It may be possible to put the sounds back using the Magellan RoadMate PC application it is mentioned in the manual and on the web site http://www.magellangps.com/ but I cant see where to obtain it!

You are not alone, there is a thread here with people complaining about their receiver and trying to find the software. http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=63844

A reviewer here is actually using the software http://www.gpsinformation.us/rm300/Magellan%20RM300%20map%20loading.html note the red warning about formatting the internal memory!

I checked P2P to see if the software was floating around but all I found were maps.

Sorry for all the links but I think you'd better be informed that this ain't a quick fix and contacting Magellan may be the only way.

Change language

You'll have to plug the unit into your computer using the USB cable and use Roadmate Manager :Settings" to change the language.

check the fuse in the plug - usually a ring around the end that unscrews and the fuse and a small spring will be inside the small metal pin that sticks out the end. Hope this helps, please post again if not :)
