Hi everyone and THANK YOU in advance for any help you can provide,
I have a Toshiba 61 RPTV (model 61HX70 bought new 4-01). I purchased a 5 year extended warranty just in case and as it turns out I really needed it.
In 7-03 the TV started having convergence issues and the place that I purchased the unit from sent out a repair person he replaced
- 2 IC 23905094 ? convergence IC?s? (the part # is STK392-110)
- DCU PCB 23785122 'picture convergence board'
This SAME issue came back about 3 weeks ago and since it is out of ?extended warranty? Toshiba will not work with me or help in offsetting the cost. Needless to say, I will not purchase another Toshiba TV as it seems 2 of the same issue in 5 years seems a little excessive.
Anyway, I have been reading the forums and this seems to be a very common issue. I ordered 2 IC?s from Panasonic part # is C5AA00000203 (STK392-110). I received these IC?s, installed them and the convergence issue has been fixed, BUT
The issue I have now is that the RED appears to be gone from the picture. Any help / suggestions to fix the lack of RED from the picture from the forum would be VERY much appreciated.

Re: Toshiba model 61HX70 convergence issue
It is a good possibility you damaged something on that PCB that had the IC's, I like to use an upgraded chip the STK394-160e that is designed for HD signal stresses. I dont know why they ordered the convergence board but I suspect it would have been ok, there are also 2 jumpers that need soldering JW10 and JW50 that supply power to the chips and they REQUIRE resoldering or it will fail again. Might try reseating the RED CRT board, check for cables that you may have unhooked to see if they are not seated in their sockets properly, double check every wire you unhooked, Make sure you used a Silicone Heatsink Compound on to the back of the IC's. I dont know what all you unhooked, but check the wires going between the CRT Boards. Check for cracks in the boards to make sure they werent flexed to much. Good Luck.

Unless you are absolutlyey sure that the value is correct on the resistor replacement I would put the original back in if it still checks good. I could not get you a Service Manual, but I do have a nice trouble shooting guide that I can send you. I just need your e mail.

It sounds like the convergence IC's have failed. Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number 23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version.

Good Luck, Big Irish.
You DO NOT have just a bulb in your set. You have the older style Projection TV with three picture tubes. It's a good possibility that you have a convergence issue that has blanked the raster and therefore you will not see a picture until the error is corrected. Have it looked at by a qualified technician.
This is not a problem that a "reset" will resolve. There is a problem with the convergence circuit. It may be as simple as poor solder connections on the convergence ICs. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Please let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll supply additional details and instructions.
Repair will require technical and mechanical
skills. The red convergence IC will need replacement, which will require the chassis to be removed. After IC change, alignment in the
servicer menu may be needed.Go slow--Remember,
above all else,do no harm. You have a great tv,so my suggestion is get a senior tech on this one.
