Won't let me insert a disc

When i go to put a disc in, it accepts the disc, makes a loud whirring sound for about 5 seconds, then spits the cd back out. if i put in the disc and quickly put the faceplate back up, it does the same thing and says 'NO DISC'. it first happened on a hot day, so i thought maybe the heat fried all the cds in my car, but i tried a different one and it did the same thing.

Try cleaning the unit with a laser lens cleaner disc and see if this helps at all. If not it sounds like your laser assembly may have failed.

Why does my computer make a loud whirring sound

Could be either one of the cooling fans or CD/DVD drive. Put your hand on the outside of the disc drive, if it isn't vibrating then it's a system fan. Replace it.

My laptop wont boot. It makes a loud whirring

take whatever CD you have out of the CD/DVD drive. You might have the boot order set to CD first. If that's the case, it's trying to boot from your CD drive instead of your hard drive.

Making crakling sound and spits cd back out. won't

Hi,

First thing you should do was to do a diagnostic in F12 run the diagnostic for CD DVD so that you could verify the functionality of the parts. It's still in warranty you can still asked for repair or system exchange .

Cd Drive in Mac iBook 4 is malfunctioning. Disc will not mount.

Shut the machine down. Find the original CD or a retail OS X installation DVD. Start the machine up and immediately hold down the option key. You will see a icon of your hard drive. Now insert the CD or DVD. If it immediately spits out, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does not, click on the U-shaped arrow button to rescan the drives. If the CD/DVD does not show up, your optical drive needs replacement. If it does, choose it and boot from it. If this actually works, you may have a software problem -- this is low probability, but possible.
Keep in mind that the CD and DVD read heads are separate. If one of those is malfunctioning, your drive will accept CDs but not DVDs, or vice versa. If you see this behavior, your optical drive needs replacement.

2008 Durango Limited

The eject button is the load button on our 2005, maybe the same for you. Just hold it in for a few seconds and it should spit out your cd. You should be able to lightly put the cd up to the insert space and it should take your cd. If your cd player holds multiple cds then perhaps there are some in there that have not been ejected. Hope this works for you.
