Dark picture The picture has gotten so dark that it is very hard to see. None of the adjustments on the menu seem to work. This problem started about a month ago but by adjusting the brightness the picture was watchable. No more. Thanks, Jes

How old is the TV? More than 6-7 yrs? Then it's time to do a trade in. But if you are very attached to it, get a Technician to recondition the Picture Tube. This may give it life for another couple of years. You could also ask a technician to check the DC filter Capacitor for the HT line to the Video Drive circuits. Over time this capacitor dries out and also causes a darkening of the picture. It is normaslly a 100 mfd 160V capacitor.

Yes you can. Go into your menu system, picture adjustments, and adjust the brightness level.

SD Tech: VERY dark picture with several black vertical bars
This set like most of these has 3 hidden Menu's=

1. Adjustments (stay out of that one)
2. Convergence (like the one in customer menu but better)
3. Option Menu**************

It will not correct the convergence circuit problem as those adjustments are stored in the Digital Convergence unit on the main board.

What it will do is a hard reset of the TV---everything back to factory original--can cure odd issues: no sound, video issues, you name it.

If you want I have found a site that has this for each of these sets--IT CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH THE ORIGINAL MITSUBISHI REMOTE.

I can get you a link to the site and manual for this set--since I never trust certain sites I do not download that manual but you can look at every page and copy paste to your computer the information needed for the OPTION menu and how to do it----stay out of adjustment menu as one wrong move and poof!

At start up my viewsonic va1912wb display blinks several times then i can see the picture but it is dark almost unreadable. Today it went darker than yesterday. HELP!
If it is dark due to brightness adjustment, get that adjusted. Usually when you adjust the brightness by pressing the menu button, the menu screen would not be dark. If everything is dark dark dark and you can only see some display but in very pitch darkness, then your monitor is a goner, backlit for the monitor is dead, and your monitor will need to be replaced. You can fix the backlit tubing, however it is risky, and expensive, and would cost less if you bought a replacement.

Pictures very dark, Brightness all the way up. Contrast does not adjust
I have the same problem. I was able to temorarily fix the issue by taking the back cover off and blowing all of the dust out. But this only worked for two days. Now the problem is back. Did you fix the issue with your tv? Thanks.

Picture getting dark
My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.

Picture is dark
sitnlisten - yes it does appear your pix tube is getting weak,but we may be able to turn up the flyback alittle to brighten up the picture.If you take the back off you will see the flyback-large black unit with a wire going to the round rubber cap on the back of the pix tube.Look at the flyback there are usually 2 adjusters one marked focus the other screen,just turn up the screen a little bit at a time.If you turn this up too much you will wind up with retrace lines on the screen.You may also want to check the pcboard ass'y for a sub bright adjust,and same thing small adjustments.If this don't help your pix tube may be too far gone.I hope this helps. cooltek Feb.1/08

Picture has gotten darker
use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Dark Picture
Hi there!
The knobs you refer to, are those perhaps the knobs on the board or knobs on the flyback transformer? None of these knobs should be turned. They are preset to the factory standard and if a fault occurs the fault should be addressed, not adjustments to pots. I would suggest checking all the caps in the power supply, Line stage and video section. It may also be the video processor(in the area of the tuner section). Check for caps which are rounded at the top. This is common for dark picture. Please note: There is on average about 15000V running through a TV when switched on, please be careful and unplug when changing components or refer to a repair technician. Good Luck, Jus004

cannot access the tv menu/use audio or visual devices I purchased a tv through craigs list, the model number is pcw227c321 it is listed as 27" WIDE HOTEL/MOTEL AV SMART. I have hooked a dvd player and an x-box into the television but I cannot seem to get them to work. I cannot access a menu for the tv manually or through a universal remote. Do you have any suggestions?
