My screen goes white after being on for some time. It's weird because as long as I am using it it's ok and then when I just sit it down for 10 minutes or so it goes white. If I catch it while it's doing it I can hit a button and it will come back on. If I don't catch it I have to turn the phone off and then it will power on and be ok for another 10 minutes or so.

what is the os u are using, mention ur operating system, it is just a screen saver problem, try it in properties by clicking left mouse button on the desktop, is there any error message on the desktop when u got black screen
The first thing you should verify would be to check whether its a problem with the screen or the Graphics adapter. Connect the laptop to an external monitor and see if you still get the spots. Let me know what you found
I have an NC10 and it is doing the same. if you press fn+down keys together 2 or three times, it will darken the screen and no longer be white, I know it sounds weird but it is just a workaround that works.
Another one to try is to tilt the screen backwards.
I think there is an inherent problem with the screen that has to do with the voltage. Hope it helps.
The LCD is not making proper electrical contact with the motherboard.
I suggest you remove the LCD screen and use pure ethylalcohol to clean the electrical contact rubber strips and the contacts on the motherboard and the LCD screen and then re-assemble the LCD screen.
Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.
Once you see lines on the lcd that defitinely means the lcd is bad. As far as the board to the lcd, that would be behind it but with all the delicate tiny IC's on it, its would be near to impossible to troubleshoot it and start replacing components cause its done by machine and the legs of the IC's have match up perfectly with where your going to solder it into place.
Inverter is good, when ineverters go bad its either you get a dim screen, weird colors, or even a white screen.
My suggestion, definitely get a new lcd put in there since your getting lines in the lcd. Also your lcd cable could be flaky as well but those are cheap so getting one of those isn't a problem. Get those two things replaced and your laptop should work like new.
