You bought it on Ebay ! ! Why did the seller move it on...

I suspect that the decoder is getting 'hot' - same principle as the processor on your PC.

If you are able - I would suggest opeing the unit up (so that the main board is visible) but still able to power up.

Obtain a hair dryer that has a 'cool' blow on it. Start your unit up, while blowing with cool air - this will identify if this is thermal related...

Hi, Unfortunately there's no way to unlock the DVD player, you have to buy one that isn't region locked.

I have just bought a Panasonic DVD-LA95 but did not realise that it is Region 1 only. I need to change it to region 2 to be able to use it here. Can you help please.

you need to check that it supports pal output, if its a european unit (check the manual and player bottom for the ce mark) then it will play pal discs and will need reverting to the multiregion upgrade ( a disc and a few button presses about £20 online)) if its an american unit then it wont play pal discs even if you do manage to multiregion it.

Panasonic LA95 Portable DVD

any flashing red powerlight ?? (assuming theres any charge left)
if the powerlight flashes quickly then the units kaput ( bin it)
slow flashing means the microswitch may be stuck (the one that turns off the screen when you close the lid.
you may have to be sneaky at a dealer and ask to plug in to a new mains unit ( most new panasonics still use the same power supply voltage and ampage. if it works then run away quickly and go buy a universal power supply, if it doesnt , well your in the right place tobuy a new one ??

Flashing red light Panasonic portable DVD-LA95

check the microswith near the hinge . its generally located on near the back right corner of the player , on the control surface. it looks like a very small white plastic button or pip. sometimes these stick down and look like part of the player casing, when they actually are a switch. it needs to be raised , so when the lid is closed it pushes the pip down and turns the screen off. Try prising it gently free with a pin or needle. this happened tome and i was on the verge of binning it. when i looked at the manual and it says power light flashing slowly means screen turned off.
if the light is flashing very quickly then im afraid its knackerred and just not worth repairing.
if this is helpful to you then just drop me a line at [email protected]
good luck

Panasonic model dvd-la95 says it doesn't recognize region code of movie

Did you buy the movie from another country?

Different parts of the world have what is called region codes: North America is 1, Europe is 2 etc...
You cannot play a movie that you have bought from... say the UK on a DVD player you bought from the States.

DVD player just shuts off when using

As you say - - if it does not happen all the time, you have the worst problem ever.
AN INTERMITTENT FAULT - Horrid

You are likely to be correct, and have a loose connection / poor solder joint / dry joint within the unit.

Time and patience could find this fault - as long as you have a soldering iron, and a good avo..
