I have a model PDM-0742 and it has only been used about 6 times and I keep getting a bad disc message and the disc is not bad as I have tried it in another player. I have bought a cleaning disc and that did not solve the problem. can I return this player some where for repair or is it not worth it. I would like to have it looked at if it is not too expensive as it is new . I received is for christmas 2006 and hardly used it. It was stored in a dry place and with the battery detached. the battery is good. Please can you help me. Do you have a repair place in my area?? zip code is 02081

some dvd players are designes such that it will play good and original discs only .. so that the clarity of the picture will be good. use a original cd and play..
either needs to be clean or the REGION needs to be set up to 1 or ALL , LETS TRY WITH cleaning the OPTICAL LENS with a dry Q tip , gently rub a few strokes at the lens , and give it a try, if NOT then try to set the REGION to 1 or all, if still not reading the disc , then have to replace the optical lens, good luck , AJ
I was a circuit board engineer for the on-chip set. there was a major techical issue with the units but due to the cost of investments by polariod, they decided to sell them to the public anyway. the promblem is in the chip that only works for a very short time before is overheats and the system will show "bad disk"
