Black LCD screen and viewfinder in photo take mode
Picture view mode is fine but when I switch to 'picture take' mode the LCD screen is black, as is the viewfinder screen. When I press the shutter there is a long delay before I hear the shutter sound. It's as if I'm taking a picture without flash in the pitch black. When I switch back to picture view mode it shows that I've taken a 'black' picture. All the display details are as normal.
Can anyone help me?

I am using Canon Rebel xt. Can't clear the LCD screen...it's not displaying the full photo; It is showing only a small photo with a graph detailing the settings of the shot. I want to be able to see the whole shot on LCD screen without all the technical details.I am using Canon Rebel xt. iFixitMay 4, 2015 - When I look through the viewfinder or at the lcd it is blank / black. Also when I take a picture and view it on my computer, the picture is blank ...
Dec 8, 2015 - There is no picture or a black screen appears in the viewfinder or LCDwhen attempting to ... Look to see if an image can be seen in the viewfinder or LCD. IMPORTANT: Some camcorders have both a viewfinder and LCD.
I am not sure what is the problem. You say no"picture"..is the screen totally black? Even when you try to preview photos in your camera memory? If so there is a problem with the hardware, LCD screen battery, or some other part.
If you mean you only see numbers and photo setting information on the LCD, that is normal for this Rebel models. The picture only appears in the viewfinder. It does not have a "live view' function to switch the image from the viewfinder to the LCD while you are shooting, as later model have. I have such a model and it is very disappointing.
The Nikon D5000 must be set in "Live View" mode before you can use the rear monitor to take photos. There is a button that says "LV" to the right of the LCD screen that sets Live View to on or off.
There is two ways to view your "taking picture" with the LCD and with the viewfinder, you can shut the LCD off to save battery power and use the viewfinder and that is what I think has happened. a touch of the DISP button and it will switch from the LCD to the viewfinder. here is a diagram
Diagram With you saying the LCD is working for functions but not for taking pictures this is what I suspect is the problem.
If camcorder shows old recorded tapes picture with correct colors in LCD but does not show live view in camera mode to record new movie then its ccd imager chip failure.
And if camcoder shows live view and old recorded tapes in its eye piece view finder but does not show any thing in LCD the its problem of broekn/ cracked flexible wire between lcd board and main board of camcorder.
Let me know your finding with bit detail to provide you solution/ helpful info.
I have a similar problem with my Canon S3 IS. Dark/black LCD in
Shooting mode. However, I can view my existing photos in Display mode.
I was about to spend money to get a Panasonic TZ5. Somehow I bumped
into a solution post for S2 IS. Here is the link:
i think u have turned on the optic view finder mode. so the camera switch off the LCD so go to menu and search for the option to enable the LCD or to disable the optic viewfinder ok.
