I just bought this system from best buy and the manual is missing. First! The sub is not working, thought the component cable is secured, because the other speakers work. I tried to look into the setup section and all it does and allow me to turn the volume up for any of the six speakers. when it gets to the sub part there isn't any rumble or anything coming out of the sub. I've had other home theater systems and something normally comes out when testing all 6 speakers. Second! I can't seem to find a manual to download anywhere on the web. To trouble shoot this problem and to find remote codes in order to program my other components. I've tried going to Yamaha and the sites won't load up properly after I log in and try to navigate. IS there another place to get my answers solved? Thanks a lot!

I have the same exact problem with my DVR-C300, just happened two days ago. Ironically enough, I bought this system about five years ago as a floor model, and it didn't come with a remote; I just ordered up a remote, and the day the remote came in the mail, the system stopped working.
I've taken off the top cover by removing the seven T-10 screws, and cleaned off the laser lense with a cotton ball, still no luck.
I read elsewhere that if the spindle motor (proper name?) is not spinning the discs fast enough, it will not read, and you may need to replace the motor (looks fairly simple). However, the problem is, I never bothered to pop the top and see how fast it spun the discs before this problem, so I have nothing to compare the current speed to.
Depending on which part or parts it may be, it may be more cost effective to purchase a new one (I've found some that are still in the factory seals for around $130).
Your local electronics store Radio Shack, Best Buy or any other place that sells audio and video equipment should be able to solve your problem..................They should have different lengths and connectors so you can add on to your existing cable or purchase one that better suits your needs. Thank You For Using Fixya.Com.......
The same happened to me! DVD's play fine but on screen menu just changed and Video Output option is gone! Also de Philips logo on screen which I suspect is placed there by my TV (which is a Philips one) and as it does no longer receive the background screen from the DVX it just puts its own. Is your TV Philips like mine?
