On windows, go down to the bottom right-hand corner and look for the icon that looks like two computer screens with a red x (if not connected to anything prior to this). Right click it and a menu will appear. Click on "Connect to network". A new window should come up. Search for whatever your routers name is. Generally it will have a high signal strengh it's the closest hotspot and should a generic default name like "linksys" or "untitled". Double click it and you should be connected. If your router requires a WEP KEY (a type of encryption password), then look at your router box to find the KEY and type it in on the computer where it asks for the password.
Hope this helps ;)

In checking if you're computer is properly connected to the Linksys Router, you will need to perform four steps:
i. Checking the Physical Connection to the Router

iii. Checking the IP Address of the PC
iv. Pinging the Router
NOTE: To check the computer's connection to the router using Mac, click here. If you are using Windows Vista, click here. For Windows 7 users, learn more here. For Windows 7 users, learn more here.
Checking the Physical Connection to the Router

Cannot connect to internet using wgr614 router. connection is good without router. with router connected, internet lite blinks.

To use a router with a DSL modem or cable modem, you need to connect the modem to the router at the WAN port and then connect the PC to one of the router ports. If the cable you have been using between the modem and PC is lableled as a cross-over cable, it is the wrong type of cable for the router connection. Use a straight through cable to connect the modem to the router.

If you do not have a manual for the router, here is a link to the router manual online: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wireless_router_setupmanual.pdf

The cross-over cable could be the problem (typically yellow cable).
