Head unit has power but the buttons and remote do not work.
Its about 2-3 years old, this is the first time I have ever had a problem with this head unit. I had been in the car for not even 5 minutes when it got stuck going back and just kept trying to go to the last song. I took it off and put it back on and then the buttons didn't respond. I went back home took it off and the fuse is fine as are all the wires. What is going on?

smart or learn button is located on the back of the garage door opener. We need to reset the opener unit on the wall. Unplug the wall unit. Wait for atleast 2 min. Then plugin again. Try the remote. This could solve your problem.
If it is still not working, you need to re-program the remote control to the power head. Use the following steps:
Press the "PROGRAM" button on the garage door motor
head unit once. A light "PROGRAM STATUS" will tell you that you have done so. The light will be on for around a min. In this time press the button on your remote. The light will turn off. Try opening the door with the remote now. Repeat if required. If this does not work, you will need to contact the dealer.
You can follow these instructions to change the code of yours. Might work for you.
NOTE: You must
change the
transmitter's code before programming the transmitter to the motor head
unit.
The following steps
describe the
process to change a Quantum™ and Classicdrive™ security code.
This process only works
fro
transmitters with a
GREEN LED and a "U" in their model number,
such as
"02-3047 2B U" or "02-3047 2B UH". Changing the
Transmitter Code
1. Press and hold the
button on
the transmitter that you want to change. The GREEN
LED will flash once and then turn off.
2. Continue to hold the
button
until the
GREEN LED begins to flash (approx. 10 seconds).
3. When the
GREEN LED flashes, immediately release the button and then
immediately
press and hold the same button again. The GREEN
LED
will now come on steady.
4. Continue to hold the
button
until the
GREEN LED begins to flash (approx. 5 seconds).
5. When the
GREEN LED flashes, immediately release the button.
6. The code for this
button has
now been changed to a new randomly generated code. Do not push the
button
again until instructed in "Programming Transmitter to Power Head Unit".
7. You must now re-program
this
transmitter to the motor head unit. See "Programming Transmitter to
Power Head
Unit". Programming Transmitter
to
Power Head Unit
1. Press the PROGRAM
button
located on the garage door motor head unit once. The PROGRAM STATUS
light on the
motor head unit will turn on and remain lit for one minute, indicating
that it
is ready to learn the Transmitter code.
2. Press the same button
on
transmitter as you did in "Changing Transmitter's Code" above. The
PROGRAM
STATUS light will turn off indicating a successful learn.
3. Press the same button
on the
Transmitter once more to operate the door.
4. If you are unsuccessful
in
programming the transmitter to the motor head unit of if the button does
not
operate the door or if you wish to program another button to operate a
different
door, you must change the transmitter's code. Battery
If the LED does not turn
on when
button is pressed, replace battery.
The remote and the keypad work through a signal sent to the receiver while the wall console, as you said it's wired directly to the opener, so it's likely that the receiver is shot. I'd try reprogramming the remote to just rule out the chance that all code wasn't erased first. (Press the learn button on the back of the operator head, stand back 5 feet and within 30 seconds slowly press the remote button a few times to see if it operates the opener). If this doesn't work, you can install an external LiftMaster universal receiver with the correct frequency and you should be good.
If there's a purple antenna hanging off the head, this is a 315 freq, use a 356LM, if black it's a 390 freq, use a 635LM receiver.
Then you'll have to reprogram your remote and keypad to the receiver.
Since there's also the issue with the light, there's also a possibility the circuit board got fried. Did you have any storms lately?
The instructions that came with my remote were COMPLETELY incorrect. I made note in pen in my jumbo remote manual. After hours of searching the web and piecing together various blogs, I wrote these easy-to-use instructions:
Place the jumbo remote and your old remote on a flat surface, head to head, with a 1" to 2" space in between (the remotes should be aiming at eachother).
Press and HOLD the device button on the jumbo remote (eg. TV) until the jumbo remote's small indicator light turns solid red.
Press the LEARN button once on the jumbo remote. The light will blink rapidly.
On the jumbo remote, press the button that you want to perform the learned action (eg. If you want the jumbo remote to turn your TV on and off, press the POWER button on the jumbo remote).
Press the same button on your old remote (eg. POWER button on my old tv remote control). When the jumbo remote's light changes from rapid flashing to slower flashing, press ENTER on the jumbo remote.
You're done! Try the jumbo remote out (eg. Aim the jumbo remote at your TV, press the jumbo remote's TV button, then press the jumbo remote's POWER button). Your television should turn on or off with your jumbo remote.
You can program any jumbo remote button this way (eg. MENU, EXIT, MUTE). Just make sure you press the same button on each remote in steps 4 and 5 (eg. MENU on jumbo remote, MENU or LIST on old remote).
Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a
replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure
this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will
prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the
eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit
does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to
open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.
This one is tough one. It soundslike you have lost the connection between the flip face and the main head unit. I suggest you pull the head unit and get it to a bench for closer investigation. Look for and tears in the connecting wire harness between the Flip control, and the main Unit.
