Huskylock 936 coverstitch will not form stitches

I have had my serger for 3 years now and it works like a gem when it comes to overlock stitches. I have spent 2 days trying to create a coverstitch. I have my DVD, manual and you tube helping me to make sure that it is threaded correctly. The thread in both needles (A & E) do not create stitches. The machine is set up for coverstitch wide. My spools of thread are located on D A and B. D and A are threaded thru the A & E needles. I have followed the instruction to thread B with the orange dots. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am getting frustrated. Please help me understand what I have done wrong so that I can correct it. Thank you Jeanne

I just went thru the EXACT same thing, pulled up YouTube videos and discovered it was all about (1) how the LOOPER was threaded (the video taught me it is called "the puppy dogs head/ears" and that to thread it you follow the path of the ORANGE DOT (which often is combined with either blue/black, but just look for the ORANGE dot path no matter what the other color is with it) and that thread goes: "Around the puppy dog's neck and behind his ears". Honest to God this was part of my problem. (2) TENSION settings: I also discovered that even though the 936 has the adviser has all recommended settings for the stitches, you still NEED to tinker with the tensions. Specifically, I was set up for the WIDE COVERSTITCH to hem a knit skirt. I selected the KNIT MEDIUM (Auto M4) stitch and used these tensions: A needle 4, E needle 6, Looper was ok at 3. It worked like a charm and FINALLY I can do the stitch! Seriously, there are many YouTube videos (many lousy quality) that actually show and explain this stitch and how to set up your machine. Hope this helps!!! Good luck and happy sewing!

SOURCE: Husqvarna 910 won't create a chain.

You may have knocked the machine out of time if the machine does not pick up stitches.

SOURCE: thread wont overlock

When the thread breaks too often, try these, that goes for all sewing machines
1. Replace the needles,
2. Loosen slightly the tension of the needle threads.
3. The top threads are to thin,
4.The sewing (rotary) hook or looper, has burs,
5. Wrong threading

SOURCE: Need Huskylock 535D all purpose need plate

The parts catalogs show this part as obsolete.

Try Googling the top Husqvarna Viking dealers to find one with spare parts from junker machines. Most dealers have a good supply of used plates.

Does the huskylock 530 do a cover stitch

If it is a serger and does not have the coverstitch conversion option, then no, it does not do coverstitch. (FWIW, the pictures seem to show a machine that was made several years ago before the combination machines were available.) Some machines are combination serger and coverstitch, but most users complain about the difficulty of converting back and forth between the two options. However, good used coverstitch-only machines can be purchased for a relatively good price compared to purchasing a combination unit.

Huskylock 936 will not form a 4-thread overlock stitch

It may be difficult to solve a computer controlled machine with as many options as the 936 serger. Stepper motors control many of the functions. You can check out this video I made 4 years ago to get an idea of where to look.

What is the difference between Husqvarna 1003 lcd and 936. TY. Hug

The difference is that the 1003 is an older machine. The 936 is a newer machine and I have one. I bought mine new in 2003 so it's already a few years old and the 1003 is much older than that. The 936 has already been replaced and as I understand from the Viking store not made in Sweden any more. The real differences are the LCD screens, the location of the dials, the looks of the machines and of course the AGE of the machines and the price. It's always easier to get parts for a newer machine and the 936 should come with a DVD. They both do the same overlock stitches. The coverstitch is the main reason you would buy one of these machines. If you AREN'T going to do the cover stitch (the twin needle look) don't buy one of these because you will pay more money and have more mechanisms to work with. (If you don't need the coverstitch, look for a Huskylock 910. It's just like the 936 but without the coverstitch. You still get the beautiful display, the free arm and the lower looper threader.) If you look on eBay under huskylock 1003 and 936 there are two machines you can see. The 1003 is bid up to 305 dollars and has 20 hours more for bidding. The 936 has a buy it now price of 750 dollars or best offer. You could offer them 350 and see if they take it or go up to 500. I paid 1000 new in 2003. Both say 7 day money back guarantee. If you go to a Viking store and see the new one (I forgot what number replaced the 936) the cover stitch is easier to set up on this one. Good luck picking a new serger. You'll love it! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

Needles hit the arm when stitching

Make sure you have completed all the steps to convert to cover stitch. There is a "clutch" to move from S to C for coverstitch that is located on the inside front of the machine where you thread the lower loopers. Make sure you have "locked down" the looper as instructed. There is a VHS and a DVD available from the Husqvarna Viking dealer. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Good luck.

Hi , my husqvarna 936 will not sew a coverstitch although the overlock works perfectly , is this a timing issue with the looper? can i solve the problem myself? if so how do you line up the looper with the...

No brilliant idea how to fix this yourself, sorry Frances - but I would phone the repair shop right away and tell them what has happened. They need to correct this for you free of charge - they returned to you a machine that was not in working order.

Coverstitching on White Speedylock serger

Your machine cannot do a cover stitch. Check the Brother website, they make a cover stitch only machine, it works much better than any of the serger/cover stitch combination machines, and it is a lot less money.
