Similar Problem with Verticle Lines

I have a similar, but different problem, than the one described under this heading. I own a AKAI 42 in. Plasma Television (Model PDP4290) that is three (3) years old (purchased Nov. 2003). The screen produces about twenty (20) green lines on the left side (while facing screen) when the background image is other than blue. I have a DVD player plugged in as component 1, and cable television signal running through a VCR which is then plugged into the video in plug. The green lines appear when receiving signal from either source (i.e., cable, VCR or DVD). Any suggestions?

Sounds like a loose cable inside the set, if not it looks like a logic main board

Panasonic Plasma screen suddenly has a verticle black line

G'Day!

Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

HELP! A growth is taking over my plasma screen!

This sounds like a problem with gas in the panel, early plasmas suffered with similar problems and was due to excessive periods when they were stored face down, a plasma must always be stored verticle and not laid down.

I cannot help you with this but if its under warranty it could be due to either warehouse storage or the carrier.
