Question about SoftMath Algebrator - Algebra Homework Solver (689076614429)
Hello, I have problems installing Algebrator. I have tried all methods of installing, yet end up in failure (It hangs up on me, and when I attempt to close it, I get a message regarding the Win16 subsystem). The installer is "Chief's installer pro" by Dr. Abimbola. I have tried to contact Softmath's support, but they have not replied. The software installs perfectly on my laptop, but I'd like to have it work on my stationary computer. It just simply hangs on me. Right when I double-click the installer. My system is Win XP SP2, on a system that is considered by today's standards to be quite beefy, so it is not an issue about system requirements. However that hardly helps the case.
Try installing in Safe Mode. Worked for me though

Click on XP fix link on the installation site. It will solve your problem of missing / corrupted system files. BTW we never got a support request from you

EDIT: The Installer actually loads up to 100% but when the install window is supposed to pop up, it hangs on me. Right clicking "Close" at the instance tab will eventually trigger the message that pertains to system instability by the request of closing a 16-bit program (Exceeded timeout), in which the subsystem Win16 may be unstable. I have tried to install the fixes for Win16, yet the installer yet refuses...
The operation that does not respond in this case is ntvdm.exe
I have the same problem except that I only have one computer (PC) to install it on. It is a laptop. It doesn't matter that I have also downloaded the fix XP file - it still won't install without hanging up and getting the error messages you described in your post. I am so frustrated I want to scream! Does anyone know what the deal is???
