No picture. When I plug television in and turn on,the power button lights up but there is no picture. I have back panel off and none of the three projection lenses have any color. Slight humming from rear of set. Thanks for any help on this matter.

  • john bires Sep 03, 2006

Thought I might add, the humming noise seems to be coming from what looks to be a (primary coil) that has a sparkplug type wire leading to a (secondary coil) that has Three sparkplug type wires leading to each individual projection lens. Thanks again for any and all help.

Sounds like a short in the hirizontal output section of the set. Please this is a high voltage circuit and not some place a non trained tech should be poking about. Find a service tech to assist you with this repair.

Sound but no picture. I'm thinking I need a new picture tube but how much is it going to cost me?

First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then friend while the set is on turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your back light is not working.
You can also check the transformers they are close to were the wires plug into the panel, make sure all transformers read the same amount of resistance if not you have found a bad one. Now you will have to check to see if the power supply is sending 24v to the backlight, if not the power supply is bad. Cost backlights around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00. Well this should help you friend.

Thats the error code for Convergence shutdown. You can get the PT53WX53 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which is the correct one for your model. The kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

ws65087 or what?

Most of these sets have a self check feature--when power light goes off press and hold both the Menu and Input buttons for 5 seconds and release both--power light should blink a two digit code--like,,,,,,,,2 blinks a pause and 2 blinks---CONFIRM EXACT MODEL NUMBER AND ERROR CODE FOR ME.

Allow for time difference--I am in California.

Shows some sines of power but dosn't turn on.

U MUST HEAT IT UP BEFORE IT WILL TURN COMPLETELY ON U HAVE TO HEAT UP THE CURICIT BOARD AND THE BACK OF THE T.V. BEST WAY TO DO SO IS USE A HAIR DRYER AND TAKE OF THE PANEL IT WILL WORK FASTER.

Picture went off still had sound then i turned off at panel now only red timer/standy stays lit sony 61" projection

First plug in again and look at led light, the amount it blinks tells what is wrong. Then if it stays lite it tells something also. You can try Display-channel 5-volume +- Power(service mode). Then Channel 8-enter(test reset). If this doesn't work then you will have to replace somethings like F601, R607, Q601, IC601, R612, VDR601.
