No subwoofer in EXT. 7.1 mode

I recently began having a problem with my NAD T763 receiver. I get no sound out of the powered subwoofers in my speakers (Polk LSi25's) when the receiver is in EXT 7.1 surround mode. When I listen to music in 2 channel mode of watch cable TV in satellite mode, the subwoofers sound loud and clear. In addition, the subwoofer test signal was fine when I checked it, as was the signals out of the 5 other speakers. But when I try to listen to a SACD, DVD-Audio or, when I try to watch a movie, no sound comes out of the subwoofers while the receiver is in surround (EXT 7.1) mode. There is no sound at all. I have gone through the setup completely in the receiver. The subwoofer setting is set to "on" and the subwoofer level is up at a listenable volume in the "channel setting" screen. Please help!

SOURCE: No signal from sub connected to NAD T760 in test mode.

Try using front pre out to the sub from the receiver. the crossover is in the sub anyway. If this works change your settings on the receiver and test again. If sub is still inop, could be an internal issue with the sub amp. Does your sub amp have an on/auto/off switch or light? check that as well. Hope this helps, if you need further assistance, send a reply and I'll help some more

SOURCE: NAD T763 - i turned it on and all the lights on

Have you tried doing a factory reset?

1. With unit powered ON, press the VIDEO and TONE DEFEAT buttons.
2. Display will show "AH RESET DONE".
3. Power off (from rear panel switch) and back on.

No subwoofer sound

Odds are that your woofer is blown. That or your outputs failed in the power stage of your sub. Pretty sure your receiver is fine.

I have a Denon AVR-2801 that I have owned for many years with almost no problems. I have 5 speakers and a subwoofer connected to it - the speakers are connected through the wire inputs on the back and the...

Maybe start with speaker test tones to verify the hardware instead of messing with live audio modes.

BTW: the powered subwoofer is supposed to be driven by the 'Subwoofer' Pre-Out.

What input are you using that allows audio when you select EXT IN AND the other modes? That is a specialized analog input for 5.1 analog equipment ONLY. (Page 32)

NAD T-763 receiver. cannot get surround sound. all speakers work. should the 7.1 and or surround be connected to the receiver and what else. stereo works fine....two front speakers, in stereo mode. ...

Have you looked at the manual? There is no internal source that would produce 7.1 audio other than the test tones. Attach a multichannel source according to ITS manual.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

Subwoofer wont work

Receivers often have the ability to switch off the subwoofer channel. Especial if it wasn't connected before. If it has the ability to do a speaker test or set up try that. If it bypasses the subwoofer that will confirm the channel is not on.
