Exactely the same problem. Standby light is on and cannot get the fan to run. HELP!

I have a windchaser model #FTR183-seems to be about the same as the 163 model- that does nothing except display the red standby light no matter what setting or how it is programmed. I contacted there 800 # and they seemed like they had never heard of this problem even after i told them about many postings on net i had read with same problem. There solution was to buy a new fan as they say it only has a 1 year warranty and it is not a product defect problem. Thanks for your help and any suggestions.

I have the same problem. My model FTR184 fan shows red standby light and does not operate, regardless of what program is used or what button is pushed. Assuming that this is a circuit board problem, this is really crappy reliability for a rather expensive floor fan. I'll avoid Windchaser products in the future.

That is a good question. My Model FTR184 Windchaser fan is not working either (has standby light on, and doesn't run, even when temperature setpoint is reduced to less than room temperature (in the PS - personal settings - mode), and more frustratingly, even in the FAN mode, where there is not supposed to be a Standby mode. That darned red Standby LED light just stays on no matter what mode I have fan in (though it does go off when I operate the Power on/off switch to turn everything off. So, I agree with Lease. Why isn't our fan model listed? And, of course, what is wrong with mine.

Unfortunately, Al, Windchaser has been out of business for about 6+ months and finding replacement parts are like looking for a needle in a haystack. There may be a substitute for it, but it would mean reprogramming or replacing the receiver in the unit. In my searches, I have not been able to find a universal replacement for AC units. However, there is one place you might try
http://www.remotecontrols.com/ You will definitely need the correct model number of the hand held remote, when search for it.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

FYI - You may need to change your cell phone number after posting it on here. As thousands of folks now have it.
