Also when trying to delete "all" photos it says there protected, when I take out the memory card the camera shows one pic, but it's not showing up on the memory card? I can't figure out how to unprotect them since I can't view that perticular photo on the card?

Hi Tanya
It sounds like something was corrupted when you transferred your pictures to the computer.
If you have all the pictures safely on your computer, it will be ok to reformat the memory card and then just copy and paste the pictures back to the card.
Insert the card in your card reader, go to My Computer, you should be able to see the card as a removable drive. You can click and open it just like a folder and see what is on the card.
I would also back up the pictures to an external drive or dvd so they are extra safe!
SOURCE: The camera says that my Memory card is protected.
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
If you had protected any pictures on the card, then while viewing that picture press the Menu button. Use up/down to select Unprotect.

SOURCE: Can photos that were accidentally deleted from a SD card be recovered
yes, you can recover deleted photos from sd card with sd card recovery software like asoftech photo recovery, here's the steps that helped me
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)

4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.
