I have an LG as well.
My troublshooing says:
"Check the power control setting. The power supply may be interupted.
Check if the Auto sleep feature is actiated in the Time settings.
Refer to the " Sleep timer".
If there is no signal while the TV is on, the TV will turn off automatically after 15 miutes or so"

have you tried and see if the led is flashing wile looking through a camera on a mobile phone ? this will tell if the remote is faulty.
if its not flashing then open up remote and look for bad joints/connections etc.
the most common is around the led sender and the xtal unit.
SOURCE: I have an LG 37LC2D LCD TV that is locked.
Bad filters on the main board or a bad AUX REMOTE jack on the back of
the unit (also part of the main board) are the cause of this problem.
Try
plugging in any jack that will fit into the AUX REMOTE jack on the back
and then pulling it back out. This may fix the problem or remove any
dust that may have collected in the jack. If this jack has something
plugged into it (or goes bad) the TV will no longer have remote control
operation (because it thinks an external remote box is being used). If
this does not work then the main board will need replaced.
Note,
many repair techs will think the IR board is bad (the Infra-Red
Receiver board) at the front of the TV, but this is usually not the
case with this model.
Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

I think I like solution #01 (free) over solution #02 ( you have to pay). I have a LG 32 inch. There is no Headphone jack input in the back of the set but there is a remote input. I cleaned all inputs with air can: voila! My remotes now work! This Website saved me a few bucks. THANKS!
