Personally I use the Micro 2000 POST card. It's both PCI and ISA/EISA (just in case you want to mess with some old dogs) It's not the cheapest solution available but it is one of the best. (If you do order one from them tell them you saw them at one of the recent shows and you should be able to get the "show" price or special) Just Google pci post card to find others. As far as the schematic for Compaq MoBo's good luck...I can't recall ever seeing a sheet for just a Compaq board only systems. (I think that board was made be HP so maybe searching that way will yield results) You might get lucky here: They have Compaq system schematics, maybe you can find one that uses that MoBo and has the info you need. I just tripped across this special for a PCI POST card with software.

Looks like a decent deal and it's only about $2000.00 less than the Micro 2000 Universal Diagnostic Kit that I have. :O

    Happy repairing!!!

The fan is dead, do you know where i can get replacement?

Contact a computer store for a replacement fan or cooler. You may also place a wanted ad on Gumtree or Cragslist, informing others that you are in need of a dead but working cooler/fan for the MSI 7600GS. You could also contact MSI.

Check E-bay, some-times fans are removed from dead cards and sold as refurbished, which will do.

Take care!

Can I substitute Dell's recommended 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450 optional video card with ATI Radeon HD 4350 (e.g. Asus EAH4350 Silent/DI/IGD2) for my refurbished Dell's Optiplex 760?

Hi yes you can as it is a PCI-e card and you have a PCI-e slot, be sure to un-install dells graphics card first ( on board drivers need to be removed ) just to avoid any conflicts, and change the video card settings in the bios from the on board to the add in card....hope this helps please rate and comment thanks

I have an emachine t2984 with a factory video card. I want to upgrade my video card but read that there are no expansion slots (PCI-e) to do this. Does this mean i need to buy a new computer to play video...

A video card can use AGP, PCI, and PCI-E slots. If it is a older model it should have either AGP or PCI ( Mainly AGP ). Many video cards are still available for these slots.
If you want to play the top games of these day though, most of the time these slots will not work games like this. They COULD work, but the best cards of today is PCI-E. Good luck and do not forget to rate :)

If sound card device is not physically present in your computer system then you need to buy one.

Check also in the BIOS if the audio device is enable.

Troubleshooting of a sound card

firstly check the slot with another sound card to determine
if its the card.

second if its the card then replace it

third if its not the card try another pci slot on the board

if its the pci slot thats gone you are better to get a usb sound card or replace the mother board.

as you will chase the broken circuit for ever and its more practical to replace the mother board.

hope this helps
