Hi I have a fuji s7000 It was working fine, then suddenly when I tried to take a pic, the camera just shuts down, the screen goes blank, the lens stays out. I can view pictures on the camera in play mode so no problems with the screen, I have replaced batteries. I have recently been on holiday, on the beach wondered if sand may have got in somewhere. not sure if it would cause this problem though.
I had this problem too and discovered that when the slightest bit of pressure was put anywhere near the door where the memory card goes, it would shut the camera down. I taped the door shut and it never happened again. I'm going to have it fixed at some point, but this did the trick!
Ahhhhh! I have the same problem occuring!! I cleaned all of the battery terminals and replaced the batteries, and STILL have this problem, although not as frequent. It always happens when I take the best pics, the image shows on the screen for a fraction of a second, and then the whole camera shuts off. Again, I can play back images with no problem. What's the deal here?? It's become so frustrating that I just want to throw the camera in the garbage. It has been such a good camera up until this point. PLEASE, someone help us here!!!

remove the xdcard and use compact flash. also put camera in set mode and run the battery drain function. it seems to reset the battery voltage meter. clean batery contacts with q-tip and rubbing alcohol. worked for me
May sound naive to you, but sometimes, particularly in XD card, when it is not being read by a card reader or camera, just try to wipe it's Copper plates firmly with your thumb and try again. Repeat the process. It happened with me and i tried it accidently once, and it worked, and it has worked many times. Don't scratch the copper plates, just wipe with ur thumb. Hope it works for you too. Good Luck.
Hi. From past experience I would say that these symptoms suggest the early stages of CCD failure. It usually starts with lines etc as you describe and progresses into wavy, blurry pictures or partial pictures and eventually the ccd just goes black. If it is CCD failure, the camera will usually still work when viewing pics that are already on the card.
I think I Had that problem too. mine also quite suddenly started showing low battery even on new ones...
it seemed better with non-rechargeable types.
Now the reason I'm on this site is as the lens doesn't open.
i think you have broken or bended any of the pin inside the card slot, and that is creating problem. Try looking in the card slot you may find any of the connector pin broken or bended. Try straighten the pin cautiously and may your machine start working .
