Problem with drag and drop

I can no longer drag and drop mp3 files from a folder on my computer into the sansa m230. It has worked in the past but now I get the message "Error Copying File - Cannot copy *.mp3: The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.". It may be worth mentioning that it is possible to transfer files using Windows Media Player. I have tried rebooting and using different usb ports with no success. Any help would be most appreciated. (FOUND THIS SOLOUTION ON AFTERDAWN.COM) The problem is that this player have 2 standards for connecting to PC. One is MSC and other is MTP. Each one have different directories structure. If you put music when your player is connected as MSC, when you will conect as MTP you'll be not able to see the files uploaded previous. The same case is available when you write music files as MTP=> you can't see these files in MSC mode. So, set USB mode of your Sansa as MCS, power off, put hold switch to lock and connect to PC. You will see 3 directories: Audible, Records and Config (or something like that). See if your "invisible" music files are here. If they aren't connect as MTP. To connect as MTP: set USB mode to auto, shut down Sansa mp3 player, put hold switch to unlock and connect to PC. You will see only 2 directories now. Media and "something" (I can't remember now). Look for your "invisible" files and do what you want. MTP mode is for use with newer PC's. I advice you to use MCS mode all the time because is compatible with any PC (old or new). Good luck!

Sansa m230 not syncing music files or downloading them. Process leaves the Sansa m230 with 0 files and i am finding it impossible to load new file(s) ?

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. Then add music this way and see if it is works: 1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer. 2. Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Once you receive a confirmation message, open your computer and scan the icons for the SanDisk MP3 player. 3. Open the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player on your computer. The music files that you currently have saved to the player?s memory are displayed. 4. Open a folder containing music files that is stored in your desktop computer?s memory. Scan the files for songs that you want to transfer to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. 5. Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list. 6. Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.

Downloading files from mp3 players

If the files are not on the PC, Windows Media Player will not see them. You can manually manage the music from My Computer. Double-click on the device name Sansa m230 and you can see the files and folder. You can just drag and drop these onto your computer to save them. You might also want to format the device to remove everything and give you a clean slate. Right Click on Sansa m230 and select format. Best of Luck.

SanDisk Sansa m230

How did you transfer the music? If they are not viewable on the device, you might try updating the firmware. Otherwise, I would format the device and drag and drop the files manually thru My Computer. * format - right click on the device in My Computer, and select format
