Question about Hotpoint WF430 Front Load Washer

3 Answers

Hotpoint WF430 Hope some one can help!!! my hotpoint wf430 goes through a normal wash cycle, but when it comes to spin mode it spins a few times slowly and then stops.... at this point the on/off button flashes along with the mini-load button to the left of the machine... i cannot switch the machine off then unless its done at the plug. i have tried changing the load and the speed of the spin but the same problem happens... i phoned hotpoint who only seemed interested in sending an engineer (costly, no doubt), should i just phone a pro or is there something im missing:( any advice would be fantastic

Plug off the wall first. Take the pipe from the wall socket and lay it on the floor for the water to spill out. The spin normally does not work when the outlet filter is clogged; if the filter is clean you should then check your pipe coming out from under the tub. Last check your outlet pump, could be blocked with something. Refit carefully, you might need a nice pair of pliers to get the grip clip on and off the pipes.
The outlet pipe into the wall stands at a particular height, refit exactly to this height, about 3 feet from ground. Do not push the pipe too much down the stand pipe.

The tick is probably the door lock engaging the machine should start filling with water after this, try putting it on a spin cycle if this works ok then it is more than likely to be a faulty inlet valve as a spin cycle only operates the drain pump and motor

Leak from lower door section and from powder door thing.

This could be a partially or completely seized/failed pump.
Before a machine goes in to a spin cycle, it runs the pump to empty all the water out. It used to be quite common that the machine does not check all the water has gone before spinning, it just runs the pump for a set time which if the pump is okay, is long enough to empty it.
If a spin is then started with quite a lot of water left in the drum, it gets thrown everywhere including back out of the powder/conditioner draw. Also the sheer strain of spinning a large amount of water can force water through an otherwise okay door seal.
Unless you are comfortable working on the machine yourself, call an engineer.

Hotpoint WF430 Noisy on Spin Cycle

Hi.

It could be loose balance weight, or worn drum bearings.
Remove belt and spin drum by hand from the inside, if you can hear a rumbling noise, or any noise, or it feels stiff to turn then the bearings have failed
If it is under 5 years old, then it should still be under warrenty provided you did not buy it from Comet or Currys.
If it is balance weight, you will be able to feel movement, there is one at top and one at bottom of m/c.
