When the support engineer says press the 'on/off' button and 'start/reset' down together, press very hard. Press hard for 5-6 seconds and a the wording 'demo off' appears for a split second, then resets its self ready for use.

Zanussi zsf 6161 dishwasher - won't start program cycle

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
Check Power
Check the outlet by plugging an appliance into the same outlet the washer was plugged into an running the appliance a hair dryer works good for this it will draw some amperage. If it works fine move on.

Control
To check the control remove the top panel and then remove the console to access the wiring to the control. Find the wire feeding the control from the main power cord. If you cannot visually see this refer to the tech sheet or service manual. Connect voltmeter to the 2 wires feeding the control if it is recieving power and it does not respond replace the control

At the end of cycle I find soap suds, a lot, in bottom of machine have tried cycling vegetable oil, still have some suds left

Run the machine empty with a bar of everyday soap (not sure what you have stateside but in the uk it would be something like LUX or SHIELD the solid block type). This should kill the suds already in the machine. If the d/w is creating a lot of suds, it could be because you soaked an item in regular hand wash liquid and didn't rinse it well enough before finishing it in the d/w or the rinse aid is set too high or not dosed correctly. If you had just filled the rinse aid then you may have just been a little heavy handed and allow excess into the machine. When you refill rinse aid and salt it is best to run the shortest wash to clear any residue spilled. Hope this helps

What do these mean on a zanussi dishwasher model DE 6854

The top light is apparently to indicate that the salt (!) has run out.

The bottom light is apparently to indicate that rinse aid has run out.

For the record, that seems to be a Zanussi DE-6854 dishwasher, and I found the manual here: (link)

"Special salt can be added in one of two ways: 1) If you are using dishwasher detergent that already contains salt, the detergent including the salt is placed in the detergent compartment. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 and electronically to 1 to ensure that the special salt is taken from the detergent container only. 2) If you are using dishwasher detergent and salt separately, the special salt is to be put into the salt container. - In this case the water softener must manually be set to 1 or 2 and electronically between 1 and 5 (depending on the water hardness in your area) to ensure that the special salt is taken from the salt container only. Only use salt specifically designed for use in dishwashers. All other types of salt not specifically designed for use in a dishwasher, especially table salt, will damage the water softener. Only fill with salt just before starting one of the washing programmes. This will prevent any grains of salt or salty water, which may have been spilt, remaining on the bottom of the machine for any period of time, which may cause corrosion." (Page 6)

"Only use branded rinse aid for dishwashers. Never fill the rinse aid dispenser with any other substances (e.g. dishwasher cleaning agent, liquid detergent). This would damage the appliance." (Page 7)

The manual also explains how to turn the Rinse Aid light off permanently if you do not wish to use rinse aid.

Good luck!

After a cycle the dishes have goop on them, almost like caramel. it doesn't smell and the goop is about the size of a pin head or smaller. We tried changing detergent but it persists. What is it and what...

If it is a lime scale deposit, check your inlet water quality.
If the dish water support salt for softening water add the salt in the
correct compartment provided in the machine.

Check rinse aid for dispensing! Check the level and refill
rinse aid liquid.

Run a empty cycle and clean the machine.

Hi there.

Check salt and rinse-aid levels first. Often there is an indicator if either of these falls below a level.

When was the last time you filled them?

Top up rinse aid to mark, and add at least 1kg of salt.
Run M/c on a quick cycle and see if it's back to normal.

Hope this helps you.

MY G892SCUPLUS MIELO DISHWASHER LIGHTS AND CYCLES ARE STUCK.

The rinse aid light means you are out of rinse aid. The salt light means you have to add salt to your built in water softener. If the drain/intake light is on, that is when you have a problem. It will flash when there is a problem. You have to count the flashes and that will tell you what the error is.
