1) DON'T TURN IT ON, unplug it and remove the battery. then WAIT
If it's already dead, like went out when the cola was spilled, you can still get all your information out of it if you take it someplace and have them remove the hard drive and get the data out of it.
It's much better to have a sticky keyboard than to have a dead computer, so let it dry completely before trying to remove it.
The removal process might be a bit difficult if it got down below the keyboard.
Click on this Link to go to a web page that will walk you through the removal of the keyboard, hard drive and other components. The idea is to remove all power from the computer, then remove components and wipe them off. There are some non-conductive cleaners out there.
HERE's ONEEven if your computer is dead, you can remove the hard drive, using the instructions above and then put the drive into an external enclosure like
THIS ONE. Then plug the hard drive into another computer to get your data off it.
If the computer wasn't on and you don't know for sure that it's dead, i'd remove the battery and unplug it and let it sit for a couple days so the liquid dries and then take it to a repair shop.
