Hi
Download from the link below,
service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SC-DT300.PDF
Hope it helps.
Whats the make/model of your TV?Sometimes the TV [ AV] selected display options will bring about the black and white colors.
Sure is!
Try changing the unit from NTSC to PAL..Some players are dual mode and it could have been flipped to NTSC .Try the dvd on another tv perharps?
We also cant rule out the possibility of aconversion glitch on your DVD'S microprocessor too.By this I mean like a shot ,destroying the converter chip.

I had a jammed disc that was causing this same error message. To remove the jammed disc, remove the top by removing the screws and then you can remove the stuck/jammed discs. For the Panasonic SC-PT750 there are 7 screws, three small silver ones on the back, then 4 black ones, two on each side, all philips head. Once you have that off, gently pry it off starting from the back, the cover is actually hinged into the front plastic piece of the player.

The laser has failed. They all go this way. Throw it away and don't buy Panasonic next time.

I downloaded it yesterday. Thanks anyway. Didn't see anything in the troubleshooting pages about a dvd coming up in black and white on the tv. Not sure what to try. Hate to have to go and buy and new system if it's something stupid.
I will get hubby to check that tonight although he may have alreay done that. I will get back to you on that. I hope it is just that easy!
Just remembered, when we put the same dvd in our portable dvd/cd player it plays just fine on the tv. For some reason it is just the SA-DT100 that is coming up black and white on the tv. Was fine previously. Don't use it all the time so it can't be from over use. Very strange.
Trying it on another tv sounds like a good idea too. If the converter chip (?) is not working there would be no way of knowing. We will look into changing from NTSC to PAL too. I assume the instructions would be in the operating manual I printed yesterday.
Sorry haven't gotten around to trying any of your suggestions yet. Promise to get back to you when we do.
