I have had this GE corded/cordless multi handset phone for a few months and really like it. All of a sudden it keeps saying "Press and hold memo button to receive setup instructions." If it happens while I am on the phone, I get disconnected. I have tried unplugging the phone both at the back and from the wall jack to no avail. Has anyone had this problem? If so, what is the solution? It is under warranty and I can send it back, but in the meantime I will not have a phone!

We have that same phone and have experienced the same exact problem. I called the 800 GE support number but they couldn't do much except to suggest the norm - unplug, remove batteries, wait and plug back in. They also suggested that we call our phone provider and give them the REN number from the back of the phone. This has something to do with how many phones you can have connected at the same time. We called and they verified that there was no problem. Finally we switched out the 9 V transformer that came with the phone with a 12 V and things seem to be working fine. It's only been a couple of days but we were getting that annoying 'Press and hold menu button' at least once every 1/2 hour so things are looking up!!! ;)

I am having the exact same problem only the Initialization message started right from the beginning. It doesn't always disconnect the phone call when I'm on the phone. But it drives me crazy telling me to initialize every hour or so. I might need to find a 12V adapter.
