Stuck in progressive scan mode

My father somehow set the DVD player to prog scan (blue indicator on the front), and the screen is very distorted on our regular TV (black noise, with diagonal interfence lines). How do we set the DVD back to regular interlaced scan? I have tried using the "setup" on the remote, and I have done my best, but it is impossible to read the menu's because the screen is distorted too much. Also, I tried holding the "stop" button done for 5 secs, but this did not cause anything to change. Please reply with any help you can provide. Thank you Alan

You need to be sure to remove the discs from the disc changer and close the disc changer. Make sure that your TV is on the Blue Screen and it should say " Progressive Scan Mode" Press and hold the stop button on the unit....not the remote for 5 seconds or more and it should reset. However, if your TV is a Progressive Scan compatible TV, you may need to refer to the user guide for the TV as well....Many newer TVs Use a Progressive Scan Setup, but this solution should still work for you. Make sure all discs are removed FIRST!!!

Look at your remote or the face of your console. If you have a button labeled P/I, this stands for progressive/interlace. Progressive scan mode can only be used with a progressive scan TV. Press the P/I to switch from one mode to the other.

I was playing with settings on my Zenith xbv342 and set the menu to progressive scan. I now have a blue screen with the words "progressive scan mode" I cannot get a picture and it is stuck in this m

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

How do you get higher than 480p resolution on playback?

Hi Chuck, I copied this from the MWD7006 manual - I hope it helps.

If your TV is compatible with 525p (480p) progressive scanning and you want to enjoy that high quality picture, you must use Component Video cable connection and progressive scanning mode.

To set the mode, set "PROGRESSIVE" to "ON" in SETUP menu, so that the "P-SCAN" indicator on the front panel lights up.

When "PROGRESSIVE" is "ON", video signals from the unit's VIDEO OUT and S-VIDEO OUT jacks will be distorted or not be output at all.

If your TV is not compatible with progressive scanning, use this unit in interlace mode and set "PROGRESSIVE" to "OFF" either in SETUP menu, or by pressing and holding [PLAY B] on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, so that the "P-SCAN" indicator on the front panel lights off.

DVD player wont show picture

to turn it off select connection method 3 above and progressive scanning mode, to set the mode, set progressive to off in the display menu so that the p scan indicator light on the front panel goes out. do all of this in interface mode. you can also do this by pressing and holding PLAY > on the front of the unit for more than 5 seconds, still watch for the p scan indicator to go off. this works best when the unit is connected directly to the television.

GOLDSTAR DVD/VIDEO PLAYER

Remove any discs from the unit. Make sure your tv is on the blue screen. It should say "Progressive Scan Mode"....After removing the disc(s) from the disc changer, close the changer, press and hold the stop button on the unit, not the remote, for 5 seconds or more and it will reset to normal playing mode. Progressive Scan is typically only for TVs that use Progressive Scan....most normal TVs do not use progressive scan mode. Hope this helps...It worked for me!!!!
