You turned on your laptop and horrors upon horrors, the
screen is BLACK! You see that the laptop has power but besides that nothing is
happening.
I want you to know that there is a very good chance you can
get out of this situation quickly and without any cost. This fix works on all
brands of laptops:
• 1) TAKE OUT YOUR LAPTOP BATTERY
• 2) REMOVE YOUR AC ADAPTOR CORD, that's the wall power, remove it.
• 3) NOW HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS
That will drain any static electricity that has built up on
your laptop system board and many times fixes the problem of a black screen.
After the 30 seconds re-connect your laptop to the wall
power and hit the power button normally and see if the laptop comes back up.
Replace your battery.
or if wont start
Here are the fix steps:
1. Turn off your computer
2. Disconnect every wire from it
(including power)
3. Disconnect the battery from
the bottom of the computer.
There will be two tabs labeled 1
and 2.
4. Re-plug in the power wire.
(the battery should not be in the computer)
5. Turn on the power. The screen
will work. Choose start windows normally. (if you get that screen)
6. Go to Control Panel ->
(Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan
settings
7. Choose Change advanced power
settings
8. Find Processor power
management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On
battery and Plugged in.
9. Click Apply then OK
10. Shut down you computer.
11. Disconnect the power cord.
12. Re-install the battery on
the bottom of the laptop, plug in the power cord, and restart the computer.
Try restarting the computer - turn off from the power ..
only if you got a blue screen and computer goes off - that will be a problem
but black screen could be a monitor or power issue ..
try to restart and check whether you get the picture or sound or both
perform power drain. take out the battery and unplug the power adapter. press and hold the power button for 30 secs. put the battery back in and plug in the power adapter then turn on the computer.
Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.
how can u fix this black screen? the green power light is on, shows vista for a bit then turns black and stays black. any solutions or do i have to send it back?

Additional information about what causes black borders on computer displays.
How old is the computer? Make sure that the power light comes onto the monitor when you plug it in, should be orange and then turn green when video card syncs with it when PC is turned on. If you are getting black screen when PC is powered on:
1. Bad video card
2. Bad video cable
3. Bad monitor
1Solution: Try using a different monitor attached to this same PC and see if it works. If it does, then its the monitor, its cable, or its power supply. If it doesn't work, then its the video card or the video cable coming from monitor.
