Washer won't spin at all

Hi need some help with my washing machine. It fills with water and makes all correct noises but just won't spin at all. We have checked belt and that is still on and when turned will spin drum. Any ideas what else may be wrong with it and what we can do to fix it?

YEH WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS TAKE OFF THE MOTOR AND CHECK TO SEE IF THE CARBON BRUSHES ARE WORN OUT HAD THE SMAE PROBLEM TODAY WITH A MACHINE CAND THE IT WAS THE CARBON BRUSHES. THERE NOT VERY EXPENSIVE TO BUY AND VERY EASY TO FIT. tHE MOTOR IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DRUM AND IS ATTACHED BY TWO 13 MM BOLTS. UNDOO THEM CUT THE TIE CLIP WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. UNSCREW THE TWO SCREWS EACH FOR BOTH BRUSHES. CHECK TO SEE HOW FAR THE STICK OUT FROM THEIR BALCK HOLDERS, IF THEY ONLY STICKING OUT A FEW MM THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THEM HOPEFULLY THAT WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM. I RECONDTION HOPTPOINT MACHINES ALL DAY AND MOST LIKELY THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM.

Washer fills then shuts off

Hi scottterriz, I am happy to assist you!

Often when your washer does not spin, it is because your appliance cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does your washer make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, your washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair your appliance.

Hope this helps!

Hi...my washer goes through cycles and then stops at "light" . It won't go through rinse and spin. Help

Make sure your cold water tape is turned on and the screen in the water valve is not plugged up, it may be trying to fill with cold water and cant get any, try filling the washer with cold water on a "wash" cycle to confirm it it fills with "cold" then just the rince cycle ion the timer may be faulty and would need to be replaced

For Eurotech EWC177W fornt load washer, the machine stopped working in the middle of a cycle and now the start light does not illuminate. I have determined it's not the outlet power. Does thsi washer...

Hi

If the cycle won't complete then either it's a problem with the timer or a cold-water supply problem:-

If your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.

The washer filled up with water but not won't drain spin and is making a funny noise . It's an older magic chef.

The most common issue would be the coupler for the motor transmission. It is a rubber coupling and when it goes bad it makes a grinding, or whirring noise and the machine won't spin or wash. You need to remove the cabinet and look directly under the tub where the motor and tranny connect. This is a reletivly easy and cheap fix. Just google how to replace motor coupling on a top load washer and you may also include your make and model for more direct instructions.
