Never had any problems with this tv until I woke up one morning and turned it on only to see a white, washed out screen with horizontal bars running across from top to bottom. I could barely make out the cable image through the white wash. Same thing for my xbox. Even when I hit the menu button on the toshiba remote and try to adjust the brightness, the menu display is blurry and unreadable through the white wash. The tv is 2 years old and this just happened for the first time today. Any ideas? thanks.

I you know how to repair electronics its not a hard fix. The worst case would be the vertical output IC but im thinking th its nothing more then a capacitor in the verticle sweep circuit The average cost to repair this should be around 75 to 125 bucks. Good Luck

You have some bad grounds on the Vertical IC. In addition to this, in the immediate area of this Vertical IC, are a few bad capacitors. Look for this IC mounted on a large heatsink. It may have seven pins . I cannot remember for sure. I have not worked on this particular TV, so I cannot give you specific locations. But I assure the problem is in this area! If you have some electrical experience you can pull this board out. In this case only the caps need replaced and the IC resoldered. Good Luck and thank you for asking.
