Protect mode the system is locked in protect mode and will not function

    Try plugging in a pair of headphones. I tried it without the speakers connected and since it found the headphones and they were OK the system came out of protect mode.

I own a Sharp DVD Micro System XL=DV60 that began to have a "protect" error message when I crank up the volume. Not sure if this applies to your system, but it could be worth a try. Before you proceed, the solution requires you to open up your system (Do not proceed if the unit is still under warranty :)).  
IF you are not experienced in opening up electronic equipment, I suggest you find somebody who does. The error on my system was caused by the cooling fan being stuck or not able to spin. The system has a sensor or sense circuitry wherein, when it detects that the "amplifier" IC heats up, it spins up the fan to cool it down. IF the system detects that the fan is not spinning during the cooling phase, it will give out the "protect" message. Note that the fan only spins when you crank up the volume. Less or 0 volume will shut down the fan due to it's "energy star" feature. One possible reason why using headphones does not show the error, since headphones require less energy that the main speakers, thus the amplifier IC does not overheat. To solve the problem, I cleaned out the dust in the system via a 1 inch wide paint brush (haven't tried the compressed bottled air used to clean computers BUT it might do) and nudged the fan. Played the system w/o a cover and observed the fan operation and so far it has solved the issue. I plan to lubricate the fan shaft with very small amount(less than a drop) of machine oil using a syringe. If it does not work, I plan to see if I could purchase a replacement motor for the fan...
Again, I have not seen the internal layout of CD-BA2100 and not sure if there is a cooling fan. But then again, it's better than having the "protect" error popping up. :) hope this helps....

You'll need more then that , you'll also need a professional scan tool to check for code's in the 4X4 control module . You have no clue how this system works , do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop.
Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Systems The 4WD system consists of a power take off unit (PTU), rear driveshaft, coupling device control module (4WD control module) and a rear axle with coupling device.
4WD Indicator Light 4WD - Illuminates continuously when the 4WD system is locked in 4WD due to its heat protection mode. In the locked mode, the vehicle resists turning and binds up when driven on dry pavement. To exit the locked mode, stop the vehicle and allow it to cool for 5 minutes with the engine running. When the 4WD indicator turns OFF, normal 4WD system function is restored.
4WD - Blinks continuously when the 4WD system is disabled due to its heat protection mode. To exit the disabled mode, stop the vehicle and allow it to cool for 5 minutes with the engine running. When the indicator turns OFF, normal 4WD system function is restored.
4WD - Blinks 3, 6, 8 or 10 times every minute when the 4WD system requires service. Use a scan tool to check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Refer to the Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Control Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index in this section.
Principles of Operation
The vehicle is equipped with an intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) system that is always active and requires no driver input. The system has no mode select switch. The system combines transparent all-surface operation with highly capable 4WD, and is capable of handling all road conditions, including street and highway driving as well as off-road and winter driving.
The 4WD system continuously monitors vehicle conditions and automatically adjusts the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. During normal operation, most of the torque is sent to the front wheels. If wheel slip between the front and rear wheels is detected, or if the vehicle is under heavy acceleration (high throttle position), the 4WD system increases torque to the rear wheels to prevent or control wheel slip.
The 4WD control module varies the torque sent to the rear wheels by varying a pulse-width modulated current to the clutch in the rear axle. The 4WD control module also provides the brake system with its current clutch duty cycle and whether or not the brake system may take command of the clutch duty cycle.
NOTE: The active torque coupling is not repairable. If replacement is required, the active torque coupling and rear axle are replaced as an assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 205-02 .
The PTU is a gearbox that attaches to the transaxle.
On automatic transaxle vehicles, the RH halfshaft passes through the transfer case and engages the differential side gear as in normal FWD applications. The transaxle differential drives the PTU.
On manual transmission vehicles, the PTU is directly driven by a gear in the transmission. The halfshaft/intermediate shaft connects directly to the transmission differential by passing through the PTU. The PTU then drives the driveshaft at all times. The driveshaft drives one half of the rear axle clutch pack. The other half of the rear axle clutch pack drives the rear axle ring and pinion.
NOTE: PTU repair is limited to seals, gaskets and output flanges. If any of the geared components, bearings, case cover or internal shafts fail, a new transfer case must be installed.
The PTU is sealed from the transaxle and has its own oil sump. The PTU on an automatic transaxle vehicle uses 355 ml (12 oz.) of SAE 75W-140 gear lubricant. The PTU on a manual transaxle vehicle uses 350 ml (12 oz.) of SAE 80W-90 gear lubricant.
The active, on-demand 4WD system uses data from other systems as inputs to the 4WD control module. The 4WD control module uses the inputs to determine the appropriate amount of current to send to the active torque coupling that delivers the desired torque to the rear wheels. Specific inputs to the 4WD control module are:
  • throttle position.
  • transaxle range from the powertrain control module (PCM).
  • brake system status from the anti-lock brake system (ABS).
  • wheel speed from all 4 wheels from the ABS.
Some outputs of the 4WD control module are:
  • solid-state clutch (pulse-width modulated signal) to the active torque coupling.
  • 4WD indicator received by the instrument cluster.
  • percent of torque transfer commanded signal to the PCM.
  • torque request available signal to the ABS.
Heat Protection Mode During very extreme off-road operation, the 4WD system has a heat protection system to protect the active torque coupling from damage. If the system detects an overheat condition, it enters a locked mode and turns on the 4WD indicator light in the instrument cluster. If the heat in the system continues to rise once in the locked mode, the 4WD control module disables the active torque coupling and causes the 4WD indicator light to flash continuously.

I had my passenger headlight bulb replaced. Now when I go to start my 2009 buick lacrosse, my horn honks, wipers come on, trunk pops open and loud bass static on my radio.

Who replaced the headlamp bulb ? Take it back . Everything your having problems with are all controlled by the BCM - body control module . May have crossed wire's ,shorted etc....

My Buick 2004 rendevous,my door ajar light stays on and it dings, and the locks, lock and unlock a the while when driving

Probably the switch input to the BCM is bad . door ajar switch .
The BCM is also capable of commanding other vehicle systems to control functions that are not directly wired to and/or controlled by the BCM. The BCM accomplishes this task by sending specific messages on the class 2 serial data link. The vehicle system capable of performing such function will respond to the BCM message.
The BCM controls/monitors the following functions:

If the protect function works and causes hindrance to trouble shoot, cancel the protection function as described below, and it will be possible to enter the self-diagnostic function mode. (The protection functions other than the excess current dtect function will be disabled.)

While pressing the "Tone Control" and "Info" keys, press the "Power" key to turn on the power and keep pressing those 2 keys for 3 seconds longer.

The seld-diagnostic function mode is activated with the protection functions disabled.

In this mode, the "Sleep" segment of the Flourescent Display flashes to indicate that the mode is self-diagnostic function mode with the protection functions disabled.

Caution!!!! Usiong this product with the protection function disabled may cause further damage to your unit, so use special care when using this mode.

How do I enter the Test Mode on my RISO 790 duplicator?

Do you mean into the unprotected mode?, if so

Turning OFF Protect mode in a Riso MZ 790u (and other models I'm sure).

1. Go to Admin Tab on the main console screen and scroll to the "Protect" button.
2. Select (press) the "Protect" button on the screen; printer will go through a reset function (takes about 3-5 seconds).
3. After printer is finished "resetting", pull out one of the master disposal boxes (doesn't matter which one).
4. Press the "Protect" button again.
5. the screen should say "Protect = Off"
6. You're done and your machine should be un-locked now.

How can we remove write protection in sony dscw320 digital camera

I'm going to assume you mean the "protect" function in the camera, rather than the whole-card "lock" function. I don't think there's a single manufacturer that makes this clear. But let me tell you their little secret... whatever you did to protect it - do it again. It's a toggle function! They wouldn't want to put "protect/unprotect" in the menu system instead of just "protect", it might look 'cluttered'. Of course, it might be more useful too. I just dug out my own Sony camera, and it's easy enough to find; be in playback mode on the picture in question, press 'menu' and scroll to the 'protect' function.

I am unable to access the internet from sleep mode Can only get on internet from shut down mode

Three possible causes of sleep mode. first, an extensive screensaver with password lock prevents display. A condition that is observable as a blankscreen also known as sleep mode. Second, a computer power saver settings that shutsdown during idleness. Third, An improper shut down of the computer would have caused a sleep mode to save the system data files.

My vivtar 8025 camera locked my pictures so I can't delete the, how do I unprotect them

1. Press the Home button.

2. Enter Playback mode by touching the Playback (right-facing triangle) function area.

3. Press the Menu/OK button.

4. Touch the downward arrow function area until the Protect option comes up.

5. Touch the key icon function area to enter the Protect menu.

6. Touch the left arrow function area to select Lock or Unlock.

7. Press the Menu/OK button to confirm.

This should be on pages 29-30 of your manual.

Protect mode on vivitar vivicam 5386

hi there

this is the disc that you use in your camera correct, put the disc back into camera if so go to your camera setting like if you were going to review your pics.and go to the place where you went to lock the pictures press menu find protect again hit function settings hit select it will bring that picture back up again click function again and this will unlock it. this works for my cannon but it goes something like that hope this works for you its hard to explain but i had the camera in hand its easier do it. i just did it with my sons hope i didnt confuse u
