Eileen, If the screeching is only happening on the fill and not during agitation or spin, I think we are safe to rule out the belt, pulley and bearing. Remove the fill hoses from the back of the washer and check to see if you have sand or gunk caught in the screens of the valve itself. If they are clear sounds like the water passing through the valve is making the noise. Another thing to check is the water pressure in the house. It should be around 55 psi., 75 psi max. I have seen it as high as 120psi with a bad regulator. This will cause noise and all kinds of problems. The part number for the fill valve is 131389300, according to the model posted....Catriver...post back.
