Question about NAD C542 CD Player

'No disc' Have not used the deck for a while and it's under a year old with relatively light use. Tried loading various CD's and all I get after about 20 secs is the message 'no disc'. The deck has not been moved and there is no obvious reason why this should happen. Any ideas?

Leave it unplugged for 5 minutes or so (not just turned off) to empty the cache. But i need an easy solution for the slipping.

Most likely a general service is required. As it is under warranty, take it iommediately to their Service Centre. They will clean the lens. grease the Drive Mechanism and Tray mechanism. Should - in all probability clear up the problem.

My CD will not automatically load in my 2005 Nissan Altima

HappyNew Year!

Bought myself a couple new CDs. I pressed the LOAD button and the system flashed the green light. I couldn't get the dang stickers off the case on time and then the deck stopped waiting for me. (Normal) But when I was finally ready to try loading it again, pressing the LOAD button didn't do anything. So then I tried to click eject (5 of 6 discs were loaded) and nothing happened other than a message saying "please eject disc"? Press eject again and for a split second it says "Ejecting Disc"...but then nothing happens and the message goes back to "please eject"....

I have tried waiting overnight. I tried unplugging the battery too. No changes. Maybe I did not leave it unplugged long enough?
the strange thing is that this same scenario happened to me two years ago and then one day the disc just ejected after a day or two and I don't remember doing anything special.

Does anyone know about this or what I can do to eject or reset the unit?

Thanks!

How to fix the ERR1 in Toyota Yaris CD Player

Error #1 means unreadable disc.

This condition appears a few reasons:
- Burned disc. These players don't always like burned CD's. Try burning your discs slower (like 8x instead of 40x, yes this makes a difference) or using higher quality CD-R's. Made in Japan discs are the best (Taiyo Yuden). Yes this also makes a difference.
- Dirty or scratched disc.
- Dirty Laser. I've had really good luck with those CD cleaners. It is a CD with some small brushes on the bottom. Worth a shot.
- Deck is plain junk.

Additionally, in this lnk could find other details about fix-error-1-cd-player.html

Hope this helps (remember to rate this answer ans send us your comments).

When a cd is inserted it displays 'no disc' and am unable to play the cd. I have tried several different cd's both new and old and same issue. CD player is almost 20 years old but if a simple problem to...

More than likely with a cd player that is as old as this one is the laser may have gone bad. If you can find a replacement laser component it can be replaced. Or it could be as simple as getting a cd player cleaning disc from just about any store and cleaning it.

Out of the blue, our 3-yr old single disc Bose Wave system has begun "Reading Disc" upon insertion of a CD (this is normal); but then returns a "Not Playable" error a few seconds later. It happens with...

This _might_ be caused by dust or dirt on the read lens of the CD player. The lens projects and reads a beam of light that is bounced off the surface of the CD surface to play the tracks.

Open the lid as if to load a CD. Remove any existing CD. Direct a short blast from a can of compressed air at the lens - or you could use a small artist's paint brush and gently wipe the surface of the lens to dislodge the dust, etc. Do not touch the lens with fingers. etc. as any oils will disrupt the light - and attract dirt and dust.

Load a CD and attempt to play.

Good luck!

The disk will not eject without fiddling it out i:e a scewdriver

Yes, but if you look on eBay, the optical drives are very expensive relative to buying an old machine and using it for parts.

Disc play

Disk turntable motors will collect tarnish on armature contacts if not used for long periods. If you are experienced in electronics, I could walk you through a fix. If you are not, please take unit for service

RECORD DROP OUT

Just bought this CDR 570 and not use yet.

Reading the instruction manual - yes, life experience has taught me some really useful stuff! -

Under 'Discs for recording' on page 7 it says at end of section

IMPORTANT:
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of PHILIPS audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only'
Roughly translated I read this to me - 'don't blame us if the set don't work using other (non-compatible) discs' !!

Unit will not start or load disc

Try opening up unit and using canned air and blow it out - sometimes simple dirt causes things like this While inside glance and see if you don't have some old tape or bits of labels that have come off and are anywhere inside that might be hanging the various working areas. Try using cd cleaning disk and vhs cleaning tape Without seeing this not sure what is causing it but may be something simple like the dust or pieces of label causing problems or the little rubber "tires" and other rubber components having gotten stretched out and slipping.

No disc

Try using a cleaning disc, if that doesnt work take apart the unit and manually clean the lens. If that doesnt work your going to have to take the unit in for an estimate. If its more then two year old and you paid less then 150 bucks for it , it probably is not worth the estimate fee. good Luck
