Pioneer dvd writer problem.

Hi all, I have a pioneer dvd writer 111 something and everytime I am inserting a dvd to burn something it is being recognised as a cd. Is it possible that the laser of the DVD is not working and so it is only the cd laser that is working. Is there something to fix this problem or it would be better if i change the dvd writer with a new one.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Kindly try the following solution before you think of changing the drive..

Click Start, click Run, type regedit and then click OK. Registry Editor starts.

In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand and open
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Class
Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In the right pane (topic area), right click UpperFilter and delete the entry, also right click Lower Filter and delete the entry.

Close the Registry Editor and Restart the computer.

Hope it Helps

Sometimes it depends on what kind of dvd-r you buy because they have DVD+R DVD-R DVD-DL ect it might also depend on the brand of the dvd-r most of the time the more exspencive ones work better Like sony or memorex

Hi I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3. I want to know what video format do i have to convert the videos and burn them to a DVD-R inorder to play in my AVIC-D3

if you rent a movie from blockbuster and want to burn it to a dvd

you need a program that breaks the code and then allows you to burn it to a dvd-r or a dvd +r it depends on your dvd burner on your computer for what dvd disk to use. once you find that out and have burned a dvd and it plays on your computer it will play in your dvd player in your car always

the only thing you need to know about your radios formate is if you want to play audio file from ipod or window media file mpeg video some of the pioneer i think play divix video format

just look into your owners manual or go to pioneer.com pull it will give you the formats you head unit will play ....

My dvd writer plays disk but when i try to burn movies doesnt let me keeps telling me to insert disk helpi have dvd rom pioneer dvd 115

First check the program you are using has selected the dvd-rom drive on pc.
If its selected and its still a problem then try changing to different brand of blank DVDR . I have used Tuffdisc , Bulkpaq, Datasafe, and Verbatim and few others on similar model Pioneer DVD writer and it works fine.
