Question about RCA DIRECTV Satellite Remote Control

1 Answer

No sound, No more

My dog stepped on the remote, I think (one sec it was working, left the room, the tv had no sound). I can play movies and receive sound just fine, but when I try to watch cable...no sound. I can turn up th volume and hear the sound "indicator" get louder and louder, but stll no sound. Even when I unplug the cable cord, the static has no sound. I tried playing the with menu options, but to no avail. I used to have a TV that had a simular problem when you turned an option from SAP off to SAP on...but can't find an option on my RCA remote....can you help?

Sorry it took so long to reply, to your request for help. You need to use you owners manual and go to the section on audio controls. Check every function that can turn off the volume to the television while it is playing. Make sure all the controls are set properly for the use of the audio on the television. If you cannot find the problem and correct it this way, you can call the RCA customer support telephone number 1-800-645-4994. Give them the model number of your remote control and ask them for their assistance. I hope this information helps you with your remote control problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

Got a 55 inch smart tv for a gift and dog chewed up remote. How can i get it to play movies on 1080p ? And how can i check to see if its 4k or just standard smart tv?

To play 1080p movie, just do it. No further move needed, cuz most smart TVs have no problem in playing back 1080p full hd videos. As for 4k Ultra hd video, you'd better downscale it to 1080p if you're not sure about your tv resolution.

Left half screen is dark

Open your left eye ...
OK, just kidding. If your TV or its remote control has a Reset button you can press it twice to reset the TV to original factory conditions (but you lose all customised picture and sound settings). If the TV receives its signal from a cable box or DVR, try connecting a different device such as a DVD or Blu-ray player and play a movie disc. If the problem on your TV screen still exists that suggests the TV needs repair or replacement. If the picture is OK when playing a DVD movie that suggests that your cable box or DVR is faulty and needs replacing (usually free from the cable TV company).

HELP! Dog stepped on remote and now volume on Sony KP53S65 won't work.

test this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
  2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
  3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
  4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.
  5. If the DTS soundtrack is enabled in the DVD Disc Menu, but you are using Stereo Analog audio, the sound will not work. Try switching the soundtrack to Dolby 5.1 or PCM mode in the Disc Menu.

How to program remote to dish? 4.4 IR/UHF PRO

Your question is not clear as to whether you want to program the remote to your TV or the DISH receiver. Here are steps for both if this has not been resolved already!

DISH RECEIVER::
1. Go to the room where the receiver is located. With the remote for THAT room press menu twice. (This will be the remote with the Green 1 on the bottom.)
2. Press and release the SAT button on the top left of the remote
3. Press and release the black and red record button 3 times
4. Look that the number next to remote address (secondary Remote address) has changed.
5. If not, start again.

TV::
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.

DISH DVR doesn't respond to remote

  1. If this is a TV2 location take the remote to the location of the DVR.
  2. Open the door on the right side of your receiver.
  3. Press SYS INFO.
  4. Press Record multiple times on your remote.
  5. Exit the screen and see if the remote works, if not replace the batteries and repeat steps 1-4
  6. If the remote still doesnt work, and this is a tv2 location (no receiver in the room with the tv) check the antenna on the back of your receiver, make sure that it is connected tightly and standing straight up.
  7. If none of this works call Dish and ask for a new remote.

Remote does not work at all

Phil with DISH Network here. Ideally we would want to knowwhat model remote we are having issues with, but here are some steps thatshould help.

Step 1:
Check if the issue is with a specific button. If its just one button that isnot working we need to have the remote replaced.

Step 2:
Check that the correct remote is being used for the TV in this room. Use remotekey (Green "1" or Blue "2 UHF") to confirm itis being used in the correct room. TV1 is located in the same room as your DISHreceiver.

Step 3:
If UHF, check that your UHF remote antenna is securely connected to the "RemoteAntenna" port on the back of your receiver and that the antenna isupright.

Step 4:
If issue is with the TV2 remote, bring your TV2 remote with you to TV1. Access "SystemInfo" at TV1, using the remote that is NOT functioning, pressand release the "SAT" button then press and release the RECORDbutton on remote control.

Step 5:
If the batteries in the remote have not been replaced in the past 60 days, replace the batteries. If the remote doesn't light up after replacingbatteries, have the remote replaced.

Step 6:
Unplug the receiver for 10 seconds then repeat step 4.

Step 7:
If the remote is still not working the issue may be caused by IR interference.Find interference source (back lighting or power save mode on LCD TV's,fluorescent lighting in room, or direct sunlight). Getting rid of theinterference should fix it.

After completing all these steps if you're remote is not working give us a callfor additional troubleshooting at 1-800-333-DISH (3474).
