I unpluged the tv for over 12 hours and took the batteries out of the remote at the same time and I held down the #1 key on the remote to drain the microprocessor inside the remote. The channel numbers appear on the tv screen, but will not change the channel. I have gone into the menu several times setting up the tv, but nothing changes. We turn on the VCR in order to change the channels. Everything else works fine on the remote and tv except for changing channels.

Asked my question earlier, not happy the way it went. I am just after a straight answer how to auto scan my TV in order to be able to watch the new channels. My model no is E24Z15B-AU.

Hi Gudrun - You didn't say what you previously tried. Find the TV setting Menu (usually on the remote) then locate "Channels" there should be an option to Scan for channels. Select scan & wait until it's complete. If you are using an antenna, make sure it's securely attached to the TV.
I have had to move my indoor antenna to get the same channels. I suspect the broadcast signal has changed direction.

Stuck on one channel

Is it the tv's remote? Change the batteries
are you on a cable box? You need to use the providers channel changer. Tv is made to stay on one channel like channel 3 and the cable box runs the different channels.

My universal remote went out and somehow the tv-a Sansui-got switched from channel 3. How can I get it back to channel 3 so the converter will work? I tried changing channels manually at the tv but it...

Look in the owner's manual for instructions on having the TV scan channels. Make sure the converter is on before starting the scan. If that doesn't work, you'll have to buy or borrow a universal remote to take care of it (enter 3, 03 or 003 on the remote control). This will happen every time you remove power to the set, whether it is unplugged or you have a power failure, so start saving up for a new remote control.

Cannot watch channels past 13

Your tuner settings must be set on broadcast instead of cable. Below channel 13, they use the same frequencies so it doesn't matter. Find the tuner settings page in the menus and change the cable/air setting.
