Question about Panasonic NV-DS65 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
My Panasonic camcorder won't record anymore. I thought it was the battery - so I replaced it. When I turn it on, the power light blinks 2 times, pauses, blinks 2 times, etc - then eventually shuts off. No buttons work at all - can't record, playback, take pictures, etc. I can't find anything in the troubleshooter section of the manual. Is it worth it to have it fixed? Hoping it is something simple.....
The problem above fix it for me. it was a ribbon that had come out just a little bit the cam works well now. the problem for me got worse over time till it nolonger did anything. so thank medusa.

Panasonic NV-DS65 Ok, here goes, I had the exact same problem on my Panasonic NV-DS65. I've finally figured it out, I hope it helps on your cameras. Remove the bottom plate from the Camera (8 screws, 5 on the bottom plate, 2 on the side beside the hand grip(you will need to remove the grip), open the LCD screen and locate 1 screw below the ?still p-in-p button?. Then pop off the bottom plate of the camera Look at the ribbon cables carefully and gently push them all snugly into the plugs in case they are loose. The tape transport mechanism may have moved them out of place. Replace the cover and that?s it. Use a small screwdriver (one for repairing glasses is ideal) and do it over a table to prevent losing the screws. Also there are 2 sizes of screws so make sure you know what goes where. Thats it, hope it helps

I have the same problem It seems it is a tape drive problem I just wanted to say Lots of owners are having the same problem more over the the 3V battery shows empty on power on while it is not empty taking the tape out allows you to play with menu and view the image * you can also connect to the pc via Firewire connection and record in the PC hard disk or even change the line input from the menu to AV in and use the Camera as a Analouge to DV Vedio converter This goes to show that the Camera is woking fine , untill it is asked to move the tape * The only way to stop the camera from turning off is 1) take out the tape 2) in play back , press play the pause (some poeple claim to have solved the problem that way - has not worked for me )
