Dark line across the top of 56HM66

I have a dark shadow across the top of my Toshiba 56HM66 television, it started with a narrow band and continued until it is know the top 7-8 inches of my screen that is darkened. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks JB you are a godsend your suggestion fixed my problem. I have researched the internet and there are several people changing out the light engine or light tunnel and are spending money on something they probably don't need. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem on my tv found a simple solution its been a week and no problems so far.pull out light engine you will find round piece of tape pull it of there will be a #2 phillips screw in about 3 inches turn it clockwise and watch it vanish.i turned mine a little further to assure it would be gone.only took a couple of minutes to do dont know how long it will last though good luck

Vizio VW46L10 TV has a 6 inch dark band across the top of the picture.

Change input device to some other like a DVD player.
Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry. If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.

I seem to remember this issue in their sets, might want to spend some time with the model number and search "problems" as I have seen this in one of these before---several thousand sets ago.

My zenith lcd tv has horizontal black lines whih form a band about 3 inches wide across the screen, sometimes the band looks more like a dark shadow than lines other times the right side of the screen...

This is either 1 of 2 things, first it could be faulty panel tabs , in this case, there is nothing you can do and is unrepairable....2) you could take the back off the tv and you will see 2 ribbons going from your t-con board to the panel tabs (top center of tv) remove them carefully and reseat them. This is a common problem. Tv repair tech 15 years! Best of luck.

A dark shadow is diagonal across the top of the screen. Can it be fixed?

If you look directly into the three picture tubes you will probably see a haze in the blue one. This is fairly common but requires a knowledgeable service man to take care of.

My Toshiba TV Model 27AF45 has white horizontal lines across the screen (about 10-15 equally spaced lines from the top edge to 3-4 inches down from the top of the screen). These appear to be reflections...

go to the vertical section n change caps like 100uf, 2.2uf around the section in addtion check some caps in the line o/put like 22uf 250v

I have a 46 Toshiba DLP television

Hi,it does sound like it could be that mirror since thats what direct the light of the lamp.You will need to replace the light tunnel.

I'm getting a rainbow tint on the upper 1/5th of

usually when the lamp is going out the picture gets dark if you are getting a rainbow tint most likely the light engine is going bad.

Toshiba 52WM48 - Dark line across top of screen about 4 inches

replace the vertical ic, LA 7833 and four capacitors near it, i encountered this last two days.change the parts and it ok now.
cost of this parts is about $20.00
